I'm having a difficulty deciding on what motor to put in my '84 t-TYPE and would like opinions. All of the motors described have PRO's and CON's about them.what i'm looking for ( along with everyone else i'm sure:D )is street-able power as in reliability with decent MPG and of course not going broke.;) I've just recently been reading about the l67 supercharged so know only a little. I'm also wanting to stick with the 200-4r.

I'm going for the LQ4/ 4L80E with a Turbo of course. More info can be found on the ls1tech.com web site and make sure to click the truck site at the top of the page. 600 hp+ all day with mild maners is easy to achieve on the stock block and tranny. Not sure what gas milage is like though.
Read up in this fourm as well.
Good luck keep us posted on your decision.

I would go with an LS1 or 2. These engines are reliable and with some bolt-ons and spary you can go 10.50s with a decent suspension.

Something else to think about too.

If you use the LS motor and trans get the ECM with it. One unit controls the whole thing, you can program it for street use and track use. It will control shift points with the trans and it data logs to boot.

That will save you $2500 bucks just in the the ECM.

i was thinking on just using the 200 4r from the car if i go with LS. also if i stick with my 406 Gen 1 block going with TPI

I have a 6.0 carbed and used my 2004r Edelbrock 6701 plates on the motor, moroso small block solid mounts fell right into existing holes on the frame trans and driveshaft never pulled out or messed with during the swap
If you go FI you have to get a kit to hook up the tv cable to the t-body {bowtie overdrive} $140

Really..what headers did you use? did you have to use a spacer for the flywheel? and what flywheel?

I'm using the stock 6.0 flexplate, bolted my Art Carr 9" convertor to it no problum. If you get a 6.0 that was backed by a 4l80 it will have a flat flexplate.LS1,5.3,4.8 that had a 4l60 will have a curved plate thats where you need the spacer.Headers I'm using f-body pacesetter long tubes

huh, i see. how was fit with those headers?I assume you had a lc2? how do you like the Lq4?
