Hi All,

Looking to buy a new laptop for home use just to surf while downstairs watching TV, don't need all the bells and whistles just a solid basic unit.

In looking at various sites for example a "cheap" $8-900 Dell or Toshiba all of them dont have a serial port, USB ports but no serial port.

I am looking for one with a serial port so that just in case the current laptop I use in my car for the FAST system dies I could just use this one.

Are there adaptors that can be plugged into the back of the FAST 9 pin male that can then go to the laptop without a serial port and plug into an USB port???? Not a computer guy so sorry for the stupid question.

Thanks in advance.

Belkin USB to serial adapter from Stapels will do the trick. If you have a computer that is running on one of the newer windows you will need the Windows version of C-com because it will not work with dos programs.

Hey Rich
Go do a search of the Performance ECM Upgrade section. This has been brought up before and Craig and other gave part numbers that work. I'm sure one of the Belkin would work but I got 2 here that don't work with C-com.

Take Care
