Hi All,

My 200R4 has a Art Carr cast aluminum deep pan and a 9.5" PI Vig single disc L/U converter. I marked my dipstick to show full at 1/2" above the pan rail. Am I still supposed to check it hot, running, and in Park? That's what I've done and I think it's overfilled now, as it took a total of 13 QTS. from rebuilt with an empty converter. Now my yoke is leaking (fluid coming from what I ASSume is a vent hole in the tailshaft yoke) and when I attempted to install a pressure gauge fitting in the line pressure port, fluid was pouring out of it, is that normal? Should I plug the vent hole in the yoke and what's the best way?

I run it at stock level with the deep pan and 700 filter. Never had any issues.

OK, now what I need to know is "where does the stock level run" since all my stuff has been modded/cut down for fit. Is the pan rail conisdered stock checking height?

I initially added 8 QTS, then ran the engine. After checking (it wasn't even showing on the stick), I added 2 more QTS. Still no level, so (hot, in park, and running) I kept adding until I got to my "home-scratched" mark (1/2" above the rail). That took 13 QTS total. I never puked anything out the vent, but developed a leaking yoke (vent?) and fluid was pouring out the pressure port when I tried installing my gauge. Dave said it was overfilled and I have to agree. I pulled out 3 QTS, the leak stopped and I was able to install the pressure gauge with minimal spillage. Now minus the 3 QTS, the level still shows at my mark (cold and stopped).

After all that, the gauge on my hose whip is stuck at "0" and it'll be Monday before I get time to work on it again...

Yeah,
The pan rail is the full warm running level.
You can install a trans and dispstick, fill to slightly over the pan, loosen the pan, let it drain off to exactly the pan level, tighten the pan, then mark the dispstick. It will be accurate this way.
