the metal fuel line under the regulator that has a flare fitting on it is leaking from under the nut. not the threads, the nut. it leaks through the center of it and drips slowly. i tried to fix the adjustable regulator on there but ended up putting on my old stocker. it leaks very little now if any. are these lines known for leaking and whats the fix?

try this

take the regulater off, then wrap a little teflon tape on the fitting on the line, start the threads in the regulater(with regulater off fuel rail) run the threads up till it is snug, then push the regulater home(remember to grease the o ring on the regulater) then tighten the rest of the way. the teflon will seal the threads and the grease will ensure that the o ring seals well. good luck

Are you aware that there's an o-ring on that line? That o-ring tends to get ugly with age. Maybe yours is ugly, cut, or lost? Replacing that o-ring is a good strategy - to prevent fires...

:D

I agree with Strike.. The o-ring is probably bad.

Also, never use teflon tape on fuel line connections. It won't help as the o-ring makes the seal. Ever see what happens when the teflon tape works it's way loose and gets into injectors? You don't even want to know what happens when the fuel breaks down the tape and it starts a leak flowing onto a hot engine.

Please fix it properly.

are you guys referring to the o-ring on the side of the regulator or the one on the top of the flared metal fuel line going into the regulator? where can i fing this o-ring. the o-ring on the side of the regulator going into the rail is perfectly fine.

Teflon be it tape or liquid is for Pipe Threads only. Hence the name: Pipe Dope  Napa should have it in the O ring assortment.

turbo buicks,

In case you still aren't sure, the o-ring I was referring to installs to the fuel line. If you're missing one that could well be the source of your leak. As others have mentioned, that particular o-ring is available at your friendly GM parts dealer...
