How many 84 GN's came with the Lear seats and how many 84 GN's came with the moonroof option. This question is posted in the Lounge with no response so I thought some one here would know.
Thanks in advance...:smile:

Not very many. Went with my friend Rottydog with the 84 Lear interior and it is beautiful. Moonroof is even rarer. They only built 2000 84 TTYPES with the GN body option. Even fewer with the Lear interior. Good luck Brad

Wow, I thought all the 84's had the Lear seats. Guess it's just cuz mine has it, I thought they all did. Glad to know there is something a little more special about my 84. So do we know how many of the GN's had the Lear seats?

I do not know for sure if all 84's had the Lear interior. I highly guess no. Someone who knows will post. I do know that if yours is in good condition keep it. I wish my 85 GN had this interior but in my case it will never happen. Enjoy. Good- Luck-Brad

Wow!!!!!!!

Brad do you remember the 84 I bought from your friend?? That would make it a pretty rare optioned car then. It has the Lear seats and the factory sunroof;) Still can't get it to run right but you should see the paint now!!!!! Looks mean just sitting there!!!!

Yes, mine is in great shape, although I need new carpet. It does have a brand spanking new paint job, has factory posi also.

everything i've read from the "experts" in the 4 years since i got my T Type has said that part of the GN package for 84 only was the Lear package.
so, in essence, an 84 GN was just a black T Type with blacked out chrome, differnet wheels, the front and rear spoilers, and the Lear bucket seats in a gray/black interior.

Reason for asking is that I just bought an 84. The interior had been switched out for Ttype buckets due to the Lear being in poor condition but he gave me all the Lear interior with it, it just needs to be recovered. It is also a factory moon/sun roof car with the G80 posi, rear defrost, remote passanger mirror, ac, cruise, pwr windows/locks, facory cassette w/eq. Runs great. I was just trying to nail down exactly how rare it is. Does anyone know just how many 84 Gn's there are left on the road today?

Not too many :tongue:
And quite a few of those that are on the road, have been converted to IC.
The 84 is a real rare car.

Was considering selling mine, guess I'll hold it. Put a cover on it and pull it out 1-4 times a month.

The 84 Grand National had the lear seats, 2000 built
The T-Types did not, 3401 built

The L-S seats(RPO AQ9) are standard on the 84 GN so every 84 GN has L-S seats in other words. They were and option on the T-Type and base Regal. IIRC the L-S seats in the T-Type were all cloth instead of cloth centers like the GN.

For 1985 the L-S seats were an option on the T-Type and Not Available at any price on the GN.

No numbers for how many have the Astroroof option.

In other words the L-S seats are not rare in the 84 GN because all 84GN's had them, but the 84 GN is rare in itself being that only 2000 were produced and probably only a handfull are actually on the road in stock form.

My 84 has been fully converted to 86/87 drivetrain. Just wanted more power. Sorry guys.

lear seats

:eek: plus 1 for the 84 gn mines has the aq9 seats also everyone loves the headrest and legrest. I would'nt change those seats for anything:wink: And they even look better in the 84 WH1.

Yep, all 84 GN's had the sig-leer interior. Mine is 5,113 mile all original (except tires). I love the 84 GN's because they stand out in the crowd.;)

I've owned two 84 GN's and both had L-S seats (the first GN I owned was a Canadaian car- Km dash)

Anyone have an educated guestimation on how many moonroof GN's were built in 84? 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 of them???:confused: :confused:

You had to ask. I don't know if you have seen my other threads on guesstimates but I'll take one on astroroof 84 GNs. OK I have a vast library of SPID labels I've collected over the years. By adding up the options I'm able to guess assuming everything is proportional. Here it goes. I have 9 SPID labels for 84 WE2 GNs and 5 for the W11 T-Type. CC1 is T-top and CF5 is Astroroof. It goes as follows
495542=no
500827=no
550015=CC1
574101=no
578019=no
591055=CC1
606311=CF5
612316=CF5
619232=CF5
According to my info that means 33.33% are Astroroofs and 22.22% are T-tops. Based on this we can guess that there could have been at least 667 GNs with the Astroroof option. BTW I found it strange that the last 3 VINs I had on file all had the Astroroof.
Here are the 84 T-Type numbers.
476808=no. Black car without the L-S seats
492317=no. WH1 car without L-S seats
571434=no. WH1 car without L-S seats
597453=CC1. WH1 car without L-S seats
611909=no. Brown car without L-S seats.
That means that 20% have T-tops with no astroroof which would mean that a T-Type with Astroroof and the L-S seats would be even rarer. The fact that 60% of the T-Types were also WH1 cars doesn't surprise me. Out of 3,400 T-Types more than 1,000 had the WH1 option.

Dude, you have way too much time on your hands!;) OK can I throw another wrench in the figures? If GM sold regionally based on climate or other factors, that is, most of the solid roof cars were sold in the north and most of the astroroof and ttop cars were sold in the south and west then it would be feasable to say that you may have "came across" the SPID lables that were proportional to your area of the country and may not reflect proportionally the total number of a certain option. This may be totally irrevelant and maybe I have too much time on my hands...:smile:
