Ive had a WE4 since 2004. Paid 11k for it and it supposidly soud run high 10's. Bank to bank fast on 116. Never really turned the boost up past 15. Ended up with a blown head gasket. Long story short, dropped 15 grand into, Girdle, billit caps, steel crank, Diamonds, champion heads, 70 P trim turbo alcohol and a fully build CK tranny. All kinds of other adds. went 10.69 @ 132 with a blown tranny (no second gear or trans brake) car running at 212, blown head gasket and cracked #3 piston on a 95* day in NJ. Ripped motor apart and decided to start ALL over again. That was 3 years ago. That motor had less than 500 miles on it and less than 10 track passes. Clogged #3 injector screwed me!
Since then i picked up a 87 dark blue T-type WO2 from original owner with 174K on it. Did run since 1994. Car was straight and complete with every litte clip and tag. Even all maintenence records and window sticker in the glove box. No dents dings rust nothing! Got it for $400!!!! Decided to restore it. You can find it in the resto forum. im about 1/4 done with that frame off.
Recently i bought an un touched, stage 2 GM block never machined.
My idea is to have RPE build the stage 2 block with my old steel crank, K1 rods, CP pistons, ported champions and intake, precision 76, E85 and all the other necessities. Maybe a new FAST or chip with monitoring systems. Want to make 800+ to the tire then bring it down to about 600, 625 for the street and just be reliable. I just want to drive it!! Ive had it since 2004 and ive put 1000 miles on it!! I call it the holiday car because it only runs one a year!
My predicimant is this. All my friends say sell the WE4 and put the new set up in the restored T-type.
It would be nice but one, i dont want to destroy an all original one owner frame off 87 T-type with a Wo2 package. 2, i love my WE4. Everyone thinks my WE4 is cursed. But i have hope.
This time when i build the car, i am NOT putting anything on credit cards and it is getting work when i have the cash so im really not loosing money by having it around. Ide like to finish the Blue T and sell it to a collecter or barret jackson where it can sit in a climate controlled garage and have my WE4 to play with. I wouldnt be comfortable in a brand new paint job frame off speeding around. I would worry too much and not enjoy it.
What do you think?
