does anyone know if you can use a set of lighting rods from a 4 speed in a 3 speed

You should be able too. If I'm thinking correctly the OD-3 will be your new 3-2 and so forth. You just wont be able to use the 1-2 lever. That kind of defeats the purpose of using one, doesn't it?
