Lights dimming and cutting out

I took the car out last week and was driving down the road and my radio, gauges and headlights would randomly dim and then come back on...It wasnt when i hit a bump or anything like that just at random..I had a new radio installed the week before but it was fine for the entire week before.

I'm not a beleiver in coincidences.
Something relative to the radio install must have introduced an "issue"
An errant ground perhaps?

Isn't there a lead or a connection they do for modern radios for lighting interface; i.e to dim or brighten the radio display depending upon whether the lights are on or off.
