what is a line lock?
what is a trans brake?
Not sure if I got those right so please correct me if im wrong.

My questions are
what are they for?
do they do the same thing?
Is it a must to have installed?

Thanks in advance
:D

A line lock locks the front brakes so you can do a burn out without heating up the back brakes.

A trans brake, which there is several different versions on the market, essentially locks reverse and 2nd gear together so that you can push the pedal to the floor and build 15 lbs of boost and not push the car through the staging lights, which happens quite often when trying to build boost by just using your foot brake. It lets you launch really hard!! Only if you have slicks though.

Both of these are for getting a good launch at the track.

since my car is going to be a daily driver with an ocassional street race here and there and only see the track about once or twice a month during the season. Would it be a must to have one or the other or even both. Is both needed? Which one would you recommend I get?

neither one...you'll know when you need one or the other (or both)

prolly when your car spends more time at the track than on the street

Line locks are relatively easy to install and do work to make a nice burnout and allow you to hold a bit more boost with the back brakes when launching.

That would be the first one to get.

I have them on both my daily driver Buicks.

Most transbreaks are installed in heavily built up race transmissions. $$$

Try the line lock first and see how much boost you can hold while racing, it may be enough for now.

I do not feel

That you need a transbrake. For the money spent vs what you do with the car, the money could be better spent elsewhere on the car.
Just my opinion.
