Take a closer look at the end of the video... Ever seen a domestic cat play? After it has it's prey locked in it's jaws, it falls on it back and proceeds to rip open the belly with its hind legs.
Actually, National Geographic had an special that followed a pride of lions. That short video looks like it was snippets taken from the longer special. One part was where a lion gets separated from the pride with her cubs. She gets bit by a rattlesnake, the poison weakens her so she can defend her cubs, and the hyena's kill them. She manages to survive and make it back to the pride. Thats when the big male hunts down the Alpha male hyena and kills him, breaking up and scattering the hyena pack. It was a really good special.

!!!!

Yes Paul!

That was an excellent show. Hyenas are freakin wierd animals. The Lion was prolly not bitten by a rattler though, as they are only found in the New World. <------ Snake Geek!

Ya, rite!

What??
I think my dog Max could take that male Lion at the end of the video.....

Not Max and 5 of his "closest friends"...on a good day!:D :D

My bad Foolis :o Don't know a lot about snakes, all I could think of was rattler. Those Hyenas are freakin scary and are built for one purpose. Their necks are huge

Chuck, you obviously have never seen my dog Max...... He is the meanest mutt (half Chow half Lab) on the face of this planet!!! Anybody that has seen him in action will tell you..... Max might only be 75lbs, but it's not the size of the dog that counts it's the size of the fight in the dog that matters! That male Lion is a wimp anyways I mean he might be 400-500lbs of pure muscle, teeth, and claws, but at the end of the day he's just a big pu$$y!!!:D

Sandbaggin??

Okay that name rings a bell..... All I know is that dog looks like a bad mofo and I'm sure people would think twice before going near you or your place when he's around...... That's my kinda dog!:D

That is the breed of dog that killed the lady in the apartment hall way in SF. The two crazy white supremacist lawyers that owned it both ended up serving time. That case was very strange...
Animals can be like weapons and in the wrong hands kill innocent people. If I need a license for a fire arm, people with these animals should have a license and back ground check as well.
In the bay area we also had a pit bull run after a little boy and almost kill him. The boy has had several surgeries to try and put his face back together.

Yup that was the lady that was the volleyball coach, right? That is very sad and what makes it worse is those two nut cases that owned the dogs were trying to blame her (the lady that got killed) for the attack!!! FWIW, my dog Max is not a very friendly dog (he only likes my family and a few other people that live around us that have dogs) for several reasons.... We got him from the pound when he was only 11 weeks old and later found out from a lady that worked in the pound that he was abused and possibly being trained to fight other dogs (he was branded on his side)..... Because of this he is ALWAYS (and I do mean ALWAYS) kept on a leash when we take him outside for a walk and we are very careful about opening the front door (we make sure he doesn't try to go outside by holding on to his collar or usually close him off in the kitchen)..... When he goes to the Vet or anyplace where he could run into people or other male dogs (some male dogs he's fine with and he won't fight a female) he is muzzled so that he can't bite..... Being a responsible owner is the key!!!

Sad situation

Just this week here in Atlanta, a small boy was mauled and his grandma killed by the family mutt..
The last Rottie that was around my shop, killed my "guard cat", Miss Goodwrench.
As a result of his second attempt to kill her, he's now no longer a threat to other animals or people.. Seems he got a terminal case of lead poisioning, courtesy my .357 w/ some +P hollow points...
never knew WTF hit him!!!

Yeah there are a lot of sad situations like this.....

A while back there was an older guy killed by two Rotties down here and a few months back there was a child that was badly mauled by a Pitt Bull that was running loose:( I know in Dade County (Miami area) it is illegal to own Pitt Bulls as a result of the many attacks reported that involved that breed (Pitt Bulls)..... I think it's sad that certain breeds of dog get such a bad rep (like Pit Bulls, Rotties, Dobermans, etc.) because it all goes back to the owners..... I know several guys that own Pit Bulls and they are the nicest dogs you'd ever want to meet (wouldn't hurt a fly) but again this is all because of the owners..... Also, people should do some simple research before they buy a certain breed of dog to make sure it fits their lifestyle/living area!!!

Dog vs Lion

Welp, I don't care how big and tuff a Dog is, a Lion would rip it to shreads, even a sick one.

Dog - 122 lbs
Lion - 400-600

If you have ever been @ the recieving end of a domestic 10-15 lb cats rage, you'd know what i am talking about. Like hikeing manuals tell you, your dog is no match for a Bear, and if, by chance your dog gets into it with one, he will run back to you after being injured, with the bear hot on his heels!

Boolah!

I personally would take on a Lion.......

86Brick,
I've owned 3 pits over the years and currently have 1 male pit (80 lbs of muscle) and 1 female Brittney. I couldn't agree with ya more, it's all in how they're brought up! My folk's late dog Mindy a 15 pound Lasa was the meanest little bitch that walked on 4 legs....would bite about anything. My dog Butch lets my girls (2 and 1 years old) do about anything to him they want and never has once done anything but lick them and walk away. He HATES to have his feet touched, hell I can't touch them, but the girls could hang onto them and he does nothing....VERY smart dogs, VERY protective of the house and family, GREAT theft deterenat:) Pits don't have "little dog" disease, so they have no need to act a fool.

Joe...

I could not agree more about the Lasa's, and the way they walk, pretty much all ATTITUDE,( I own the world style).
