Is there any way to remove the low reverse clutch pack without a special tool? If so how?

Thanks,
Pete

I don't believe so.

But it only took me about five minutes to make some special tools. I used some copper wire. I have a chunk of feeder cable that is about 1" in diameter. It is made of strands of single core about as thick as a piece of 10 gauge wire. That stuff comes in handy.

Just take two pieces of copper wire and make "L" rods. I had about one foot to hold on to, and a 90* bend that was only long enough to grab the Clutch Apply Ring.

Two of the channels that hold the lo/rev in place are wider than the others. Inserting the tools in those two places provides an OK hold, will help keep the Ring from popping off when installing, and will permit the tool to be removed after install.

It took me a few tries, but it worked fine for me.

Good Luck,
