When I bought my last tranny and converter from the FAKE Art Carr I went with the non-lockup setup under their advise. They were saying that running a lockup setup and not locking it up actually could cause damage since I guess it diverts fluid from the 3 and 4 bands to keep the converter unlocked. This is a problem for me since I have a FelPro (now FAST) computer in the car which doesn't have any tranny controls in it. So unless I put a manual switch when I want to lock the converter, it goes unlocked continuously. I have a new tranny (non-lockup) coming from Bruce. Does anyone know if the FAKE art carr was blowing smoke up my ass? Does anyone know a way to have the felpro control the lockup? I was thinking about maybe the N2O control or something. Someone else mentioned they used the 4th gear switch to lockup the converter whenever the tranny was in 4th gear and the brake not applied. Any ideas???? Bruce someone also mentioned that you sold something for this situation. Is this true??? I would love to have a lockup again, but am willing to go non lockup again too.

Thanks for any advise.

Well you had better make up your mind!!!!!

It is scheduled for teardown and build tommorrow.LOL! I would go lock up like we discussed but AS FAR AS I KNOW The FelPro will not control lock up. We can do it on a switch or a 4th pressure switch but you wanted a brake and all so I would think about this seriously. How do you want it? Would it be easier and more economical for you to stay NON lock? These are question's you need to resolve for whats best for you. It doesnt matter to me which way . As far as Art Carr telling you that a lock up run unlocked ALL the time will hurt, yes it will, but not the way you described. It will hurt by lack of lube and overheat after awhile. But it doesnt ROB anything from 3 or 4 band considering these trans' do not have a 3rd or 4th gear band. It does nothing to line pressure or control thereof.

Bruce,
I'll just stick with the non-lockup. it worked great before with very little extra rpm's while cruising. So let's just stay with the non-lockup route.

Thank You,
Derrick
