Forgive me for my ignorance, but I was hoping someone could answer a few questions for me.

From what I understand there is a valve that needs to be replaced to make a lock-up tranny into a nonlockup. My question, is it possible to use a lock up tranny with a non-lock up convertor and non-lock up chip? If it is possible, is it stoopid?:)

Another question would be vice-versa, using a lock-up chip and convertor in a non lock up trans?

My way of thinking is it would be possible and ok for the first scenario but not for the second.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

TIA,
Ron

both will work but with drawbacks.a non lock up convertor with a stock pump setup for lock up will suffer reduced cooler flow.this can cause internal failures on long trips without stopping such as 5 to 10 hour trips.in a 2004r this will usually kill the overdrive planet because on the hiway in 4th the only planet in reduction(wrong word but itll suffice)is the overdrive planet. if you have a pump set up for non lockup and install a lock up convertor itll shut off the motor when put in gear, because their is no convertor off oil.

I have two tranny's, one is lock up and the other is not. Is it difficult to switch the valves? Thanks for the info.

Ron
