in my 87 gn i just put a new aluminum 2 extra quart pan on and also put in a new lock up solenoid. i replaced the solenoid because it would engage and disengage rapidly sometimes, but never on level road just cruising it would do it going up a fairly step hill around like 50-60 mph. i would hit the gas to disengage it but it would lock right back up... anyway. put a new one in it and it worked fine... for a few days. the other day coming home on the interstate it started it. not under a load just normal driving around 70. it would lock in and out constantly. i check the fluid it was fine so i said to heck with it and drove it home. by then the whole way home it would not lock up at all at any speed. then the next morning it locks up fine. but i haven't been back on the interstate yet. any ideas? did i just get a bad solenoid? also how do i get this pan to stop leaking in the front!? the old pan leaked the new aluminum pan leaks... rubber gaskets cork gaskets, yellowed glued to the pan, silicone no matter what i do it still leaks like hell. thanks for reading!

Tried it a few different ways... Like fairly snugg with a 3/8 ratchet... Tried tight... And very tight.

Nothing wet above pan gasket level? Dipstick seal, TV Cable seal, Electrical plug seal?
Pan bolts only need 6 to 10ft/lbs torque.
Sounds like the new Solenoid may be bad, also check your Brake switch adjustment. Make sure it's not interupting the 12V to Solenoid.

yeah the bolts dont need a whole lot...just like 7 ft/lbs and nothing on the gasket or it will leak.

maybe this will help....

NOW AS FOR THE LEAK.

Also if you can get one of those angle $2.00 mirrors at auzone/advance and a flash or shop light. pull your car up on stands you could use the mirror to see if the dipstick plug has fluid around it.
also the tv cable. to make sure fluid isnt coming from the top. you could shine the flash light up through the convert snout going to the pump if the cover is off to see if its the seal on the pump. I had a leak at the front seal and put a new one in but i couldnt get the the corner of the pan to stop leaking.
So i put a light bead of "Right Stuff gasket maker " and my leak stopped but make sure you do this LAST (because its VERY HARD to come off if you have to go back in the pan again) so do this last; after you've checked your psi. switches (make sure 4th isnt shorting out on the bottom feeder filter if you have one), and if you put a new solenoid in you should be good to go in that dept.

I would triple check to make sure the brake switch isnt wiggling 1 mm in and out. It has to be rock steady no loosness.

I installed a ptc 2800 lock up in my 87 GN it is bad a$& but it goes on the rev limit realy quick ? Do I need to have tubo tweak reburn me a new chip and add 500 or 800 more RPMs to it or leave it a lone . When it goes on the rev limit it shutts ever thing down I mean everything power fuel all systems down is that how it protects the engine or may somthing else keep inmind befor I changed the stall it never ever did that . I will say it jumps up on that 20 lb og boost quick now . Thanks for any advise my email is gavinxman@yahoo.com

No i'd leave the chip in, if not you'd over rev it and blow something probably. That feature is probably saving your engine right now.
You are having, transmission or either torque converter problems.
Is your TV cable sat properly? did you install it or did someone else? How many clicks do you have on your TV cable. Start another thread, you may get more suggestions/help.
