Car always starts but take about 2-3 times as long to crank as the average Turbo Buick. It has a stock FP regulator and don't have a FP gauge. The most knock I have ever seen on the scanmaster is around 3.

Does it crank fast or slow?
If it is fast or normal cranking
then
Also it could be the injectors or even fuel pump possibly the relay
If it is slow
Then the starter is probably going

Isn't it true if the fuel pump relay is bad, the ECM relies on the oil pressure sensor to reach 4 psi before it starts fuel pump. Maybe check to make sure the fuel pump primes for 2 seconds with key on to make sure the fuel pump relay is working.

Do you try to start immediately once you turn the key? Make sure the pump primes when you turn the key on and then crank it. If it starts quicker I'd say it is just an issue with pressure not holding in the fuel rail once the pump primes. That would be a bad check valve in the pump.

Yes that's true. When the oil light goes out, it backs up the fuel pump relay.

My car was hard to start right before the factory MAF crapped out.

It cranks fast. I will let it prime and try it. Kinda hard to hear. Forgot to mention it has a "boost a pump" on it. At least that's what I think it's called. Not sure if they sell them anymore. Not a hot wire kit....it's an in line fuel pump.

That's not a boost a pump. The B a p is an electrical device that raises voltage to the pump.
I suggest you trash that 2nd pump, install a new, in-tank pump, and a hot wire kit.

Are you sure the pump is priming? It's possible the fuel pump relay is not getting signal and your starting on the oil pressure switch.

Not sure about yours but my fuel pump makes a pretty unmistakeable sound when it's priming.

I hear the fuel pump prime. The external pump says bosch on it. Will have to get on some new eyeballs and get the numbers off of it. Cant be sure if its not the external fuel pump priming. Will need two people for that job. It does sound like a different buzz than I remember coming from the internal FP. But it has been a few years....just got this car so I'm knocking off the rust and getting my TB hat back on.

The external pump was called a booster pump when Kenne-Bell sold it. There's nothing wrong with moving extra fuel that way. It just doesn't improve flow as much as two pumps in parallel would. Two pumps with their own pick ups in the tank. You can't make a decision about your pumps until you monitor fuel pressure at idle and WOT. Does your car seem rich/chug when you start it?

Where can I find a cheap fuel pressure gauge? Not looking for a permanent mount.....just a hand held model. I have seen many for sale online.....is the connector universal? If not , what size do I need?

Have been looking at those amazon gauges. My last gauge was just the dial, hose and fitting. What is all the extra stuff that comes with it? And what is that clear hose for?

The extra parts are adapters for different cars. The clear hose is there to allow pressurized fuel to escape through when you push the pressure relief button. This allows the gauge to be disconnected from the fuel rail without fuel spraying all over everything.
