Sounds like a honest guy that got taken for a ride. :(

I hope someone buys it and gets it back together too. :)

I do not know how someone could bill you $4500.00 and tell you the engine is bad:confused: If that were me there shop would be a barbecue.

I personally like the wheels ALOT. I think the whole car looks bada$$. He emailed me directly asking me if I knew anyone looking for one, guess he found my AOL profile. I thought about going to look at the car in person just for grins and giggles. The only think I REALLY don't like is that alot of the parts seem to have excessive moisture damage. Perhaps it got rained on has been sitting for SO long the humidity started damaging things. For $2,000 you could easily get that car going. He said it has 100k miles on the body.

Stage 1 Automotive is owned by Rob Chielinski and he is based in Pompton Plains, NJ. I know he does a lot of bigblock Buick stuff but didn't realize he dabbled in V6's.

umm.. cage.. ? $1000? recaros?? $500 apiece? numerous BFH pieces.. GNX dash with autometer gauges.. thats probably 700 with vdo, $1k with autometer..

i duno where else.. maybe hes counting the heads as part of the interior. theyre sittin on the pass floorboard.. so theres $1500.....

so maybe $5k right there being generous..

seats reupholstered? headliner? tint?

i still think its a great car.. SO much potential

Hello everyone, Im the actual irate owner of the car on ebay I thought I would sign on to the message board to clarify some things. I understand everything you all say and respect them, however, the amount of work into this car has to be considered. ... The engine has a screwed on girdle....the engine is a full roller (roller rockers and roller cam), and although cracked has only 819 miles on it as does the rest of the mods on the car...everything from the turbo to the heads cam intercooler and all the other goodies are reuseable none of that stuff was cheap...but if we didnt consider the motor at all the 15000 Im asking is still reasonable. The car has all new moldings and paint. The HID Lights alone were $600, The stereo was $3500 and has been listened to only a few times it still has to be adjusted, the alarm has a remote start was about $500, The scan master and alcohol injection, The suspension wasnt cheap the rebuilt transmission was done by Level 10, the Vigilante Torque converter has 819 miles on it as well, the entire rear end was rebuilt new moser axles and cover...all new bottles and caps and all the odds and ends...even has the slop eliminators for the windows and new door hinges...The Exhaust wasnt cheap...The Baer Brakes and wheels alone are 3500 apiece, not installed and without tires. Thats 7000. The $9500 interior was worth the money. It wasnt a spit and polish job. If you notice the detail of the roll bar and swing out drivers side. The way the cage is wrapped and wrapped underneath the padding so the steel isnt exposed. The center arm rest was custom made to actually rest on and stitched to match the rest of the interior. The door panels were custom made to match the seats, a new headliner was custom made not replacement, rear seat was reupholstered and so was the rear shelf, and visors not to mention the recaro seats and the new rug all new seals for all the windows even the moonroof has all new seals. The car has a new Powermaster which I forgot to mention on ebay. I wont bore you all with the rest but you can see it, plus a rust free body holding it all together...the paint isnt bad....its just not great...All of this has next to no miles on it...just dial in time a few runs and lots of dyno time...Like I mentioned there was literally no expense spared on this car and everythign is rebuilt or new and I mean EVERYTHING.. I have almost all new plastic in the interior and some still in boxes that I havent changed out. There is dust in the interior thats it..The interior is brand new...Not one bushing in the entire car is original...I even replaced the gas tank...everything is new on the car...The only thing this car needs is someone who can tolerate the inconsistancies that these cars have and the right engine block; (stage 2 if you ask me). It will make someone else a proud owner just not me...Im not alone in feeling this way about these cars and Im not saying that it was specifically my car thats cursed....I have learned in my experience that these cars cannot be reliable and fast all the time... I know people will argue but my experience is real....My car has been to several shops....and it just never ran right...was never consistant...but then again none of these cars are if you modify them to this extreme....Originaly I wanted a 10 second sleeper that looked fast, sounded fast but ran much much faster..that wasnt tubbed but handled well and stopped as well as it ran....The car did everything but run fast consistantly..( as a sidenote...the suspension I put in this car with the quicker ratio steering was amazing, the car feels totally different with almost scalpel like precision I recomend it highly).I was plagued with low oil pressure, overheating popping fluttering...you name it...Im just fed up....I have alot of interest in the car so far...I actually have a few people who remember the car from when I had it in NJ and they are interested. As far as the water damage...I wasnt aware that there was any..if you dont drive any car the brakes get rusty...I was very honest in my description and with my lack of patience to yet do it again and give one more shop or person a shot at making this car run right......no expense was spared...after the car went into the shop the last time for a mysterious low oil pressure and popping under boost problem..with only 800 miles on it and it turned out it had a cracked block and I spent another 4500 on it...( I also got the MAF Translator new studs for the rear wheels and replaced the old HID lights with new ones) I have the reciept to prove it...I got so fed up I was then going to convert it into a BBQ and Im not joking...my fiance wouldnt go along with it and it doesnt really match the house too well...I also want to make it clear that Im not bad-mouthing any of these shops, Rob at Stage 1 is a nice guy and knows his stuff, the guys down at Dynamic Turbo also, its just these cars are impossible to make run well...these guys are mechanics not miracle workers...if you want the ultimate turbo buick project this is it....On another note...yes thats an EVO my latest toy....These can make dependable hp from what Ive seen and heard and they do well with mods...500hp to the wheels is my goal...and the lightning already proved itself as a dependable modified truck...good luck to you guys you will need it...

John, thanks for posting. It's really a shame you've had such bad luck with your car. It's obvious you put alot of money and time into it but regardless of how polite you're being with Dynamic Turbo and the Jersey shop, I don't believe your setup would be that hard to tune. Perhaps if you don't get what you're looking for, one of the local gurus (Cal Hartline has an 8 second street legal sleeper) or Economy Auto in Pompano (Jeff is good people) would be able to help you. If you can get 10k for the car as it sits, but spend $2500 on a lower motor perhaps you'll get 15 or 18 and recoup some of your costs. It's definitely a good lookin' car though. What kind of wheels? What size?

The south Florida TR group is heading to Midnight Madness on Saturday at Moroso. Grab your lightning or EVO and head up there. Introduce yourself to one of us...we may be able to help in some way with your car. Good luck regardless.

BBQ, welcome to the BB and thanks for showing up under these circumstances, sometimes these guys have active imaginations. Plain and simple, its your car do with it what you please and goodluck with your sale. For what its worth I agree with you. I know first hand that when you get to a certain level of modification these cars can be a neverending inconsistent frustrating nightmare, I've felt like pushing mine off a cliff more than once. Lol

If I had lots of money (and I dont any more, the buick and porsche took care of that) I would consider buying this car. The suspension and brakes really impres me and the car looks great too.

This could make a great car for someone with a little work.

Id love to go to moroso, if I have time I definitely will come up. The Wheels are Budniks 16x8 up front and 16x9 out back..Yes thats an EVO and a lightning in the backgroud...in the garage I have a 2003 360 spider and a 2003 SL55 and a 2002 CL500 Sport..(outting three lifts in the garage so i can bring my 1970 440-6 in-violet road runner down) 2 vespas and a Grizzly...lotsa fun...soon Im gonna put a zex nitrous kit on the SL maybe a 150 shot and Im waiting on pulleys for the superchager and a new ecu.....it comes with 493 stock...can be pretty sick with over 650hp....the lightning has pulleys and a zex nitrous system and a chip tuned on a dyno by a local shop called Razor's Edge...those guys are perfectionists..and only work on lightnings and blown cobras....now Im checking out all the local shops to see who I should have work on my evo with a 4wd dyno...there is a guy in Miami called Speed Shop who is putting one in now...I am a big advocate of dyno tuning...never worked for the buick...Im really sad about the whole thing with the buick....it has great potential as really the last Muscle car detroit made...full chassis, go fast, lots of room, no airbags or traction control or any of the other techy garbage..thats why I always liked them since I was in high school and used to drool over the dream of one day owning one....In 1985 I went to the Auto Show in NY and saw this Darth Vader black Olds with Gotti wheels, Im sure you all know the car Im talkign about...with recaro seats and all, I wanted that car then but I got really involved with Mustangs. When I graduated HS in 1988 the grand nationals where i lived were all abused, used and too expensive Ford had a First time buyers program for NEW cars...so the Mustang bug hit me......But that Olds show car really got my interest..well thats sort of the look I went for with my car...but I didnt want to make a faux-GN so I stayed gray and fell in love with budnik wheels after seeing them on a show car in Carlysle

How cool is that, the owner came on the board. I would buy it too, however my S2 project is draining me:eek: . I agree with allot that has been said. Good luck and please invite us if there is a Barbecue. :D

EXTRA CRISPY PLEASE....

TurboBBQ, I know how you feel. I probably have less than $6,000 into my car complete as it is, so it cant compare to all the money you have into your car, but everytime something is fixed, something else breaks. Alot of times i wish i could just drop a small block in there and never have to deal with a bad sensor or bad grounds again. BTDT, its my only car though so i have to be patient and try to figure things out... oh well :) Good luck with the sale!

If I had the money I'd give it a new better home!!!

These cars are NOT impossible to make run well, but like any other car you must know what you're doing and if you take it to a shop they must have experience with these cars and in your case I think the shops you went to did not have much if any experience with TRs!!! When you were in NJ you should have went to Ron's Custom Auto and had Jack Merkel build your motor or Dynotech Performance is also another well known shop in that area that has done good work on these cars...... When you had problems down here in South Florida you should have spoke to some of the local TR owners cause they could have suggested a good place to take the car like Laz in Miami (he has built many fast TRs and he has a stock block GN owned by Roy Garcia running 9's and this is a street driven car) or Jeff at Economy Auto (he's built plenty of daily driven 11 and 10 second TRs) like somebody else suggested and there is always Freddie who has a 10 second street driven TR and has built several 11 and 10 second street driven TRs.... You took your TR to Dynamic Turbo when you were down here in South Florida who works on the turbo imports like the DSMs and Supras mostly and I have NEVER heard of them working on TRs so again you went to the wrong place and from the sounds of it they ripped you a new A$$hole and didn't help you a bit!!! Bottom line is any car can have problems, but they can be solved if you or somebody you take the car to knows what they are doing and in your case you went to the wrong places so please don't blame the car cause these cars have proven to be fast and very reliable at the same time (espeically if you are running no faster than mid 11's)...... Most cars tend to be less reliable the faster you go (in most cases going faster than 11's makes reliability decrease as I have seen with LT1/LS1 F-bodies, 5.0/4.6 mustangs, etc.) and all of them can have problems..... Just ask my friend who has a '94 LT1 T/A (can you say optispark, weak rearend, sh!tty 4l60e trans, rattles, and I can go on and on)!!! I hope somebody buys it cause it looks like a very nice car and I'm sure it could run very well with the right owner and people working on it!

Good luck selling it, but please no BBQs cause you would be destroying a rare and legendary breed of muscle car and that makes me>>>>
:(

Good gravy !! Trade you a ride in my 10 sec GN for a spin in the Spyder.

Got any more pictures of this Nirvana you call your garage?

Ill take some pics and post them of the garage.....Ill take that trade on the ride....As far as reputable shops go....Stage 1 has done man many TR's and Dynamic Turbo has as well...as far as going to other shops my car has been there....as a matter of fact the car was taken to Dynotech in NJ....they pulled the intake out and when i got it back it didnt run much better....I dont fault them...they arent magicians...I have seen many more lightnings run consistant 11's and be dependable than Ive seen TR....and I have absolutely 0 brand loyalty...as you can tell...I just think this entire setup is very difficult to get consistant performance...the key is consistant...not when you have a tank of race fuel in it..and its cold out...and evrtything is perfect...just doesnt count...Im talking about turn the key and go...no adjusting...no vacuum lines that were poorly designed..no popping fluttering...Im not knocking you guys or your passion for these cars...Ill always like them....you can get a real nice mid to high 12's car thats dependable....after that...it seems its all downhill and thats just not what I was looking for in this car...I have gone over the whole idea of dropping in a 502 crate motor with a blower in it ...I just dont have it in me for this car...but it definitely will make someone very happy...My next project will be a 1967 Convt Mustang...Id even consider a trade up or down

Im pretty set on a 67 but that 69 is gorgeous...good luck with it...I like the color

I have yet to see a Lightning at the track that was in the 11's (fastest I've seen is mid to low 12's and I have heard of one guy running mid 11's but he is spraying it so I'm not impressed), but if you say so...... Also your Lightning will NOT be dependable if you try and run 11's with the stock rods because they are very sh!tty from the factory and I know a guy that had one in the 12's and blew his motor (the rods went south) but luckily he had it replaced under warrenty and he even goes to the same shop you take your Lightning to (Razor's Edge Motorsports)..... Ask Paul (the owner) about all the problems he has seen with the stock rods and they seem to have problems with chip programming as well...... I'll take one of these cars (TRs) over the Lightnings any day of the week, but that's just me because I know how easy it is to make them run and how dependable mine and several others I've seen can be!!! Tell me when you are running 10's or even 11's with your Lightning with a stock bottom end and over 100K miles like the TR guys I know of down here are!!!!! I'm not knocking you either, but I totally disagree with you about these cars based on my own experience and many others I know of.....

Bishir, your '69 Stang is very pretty, but what powers her??

Not knocking TRs and Im aware of the shortcomings on the lightning con rods...in my experience I just find the lightning more dependable...every car has its achilles heel BUT I also owned the lightning since new...and with only 13kmiles on it now...doesnt say much....I would never knock anyones car...I think its a great hobby that more people should enjoy...I dont think any cars are better or worse..I think all have their points...it comes down to personal taste...I love the old Citroen 2cv, you may not...thats ok...I just think these TRs are very complex and moody...and its very hard finding a good shop to work on them because of the many complications with aftermarket parts and a stock computer setup etc...Here are the pictures I promised...sorry they are so dark...
