found this in a used car lot by my house looks to be a 87 - no visible rust, damn shame.

I would be leary of that poor car. Looks like a GN, but if you look closer, you will see that the front bumpers rub strip has been replaced with one that has the white outline. You will typically see this on cars that have had front end damage as you couldn't get a solid black rub strip like the GNs came with from the factory. Also, those GN fender badges look to be too low as well, could be another sign of a repaint after collision work.
Sad to see that car outside like that tho.
