Anyone know where I can find one. I know Currie, Strange, and Moser sell them, but was looking for a gooood deal.

Thanks

May or may not help..

Moser sells the housing/axle package for about 900 bucks..all you then have to find is the chunk..which is not to hard to find through the Ford boards, swap meets,etc..Dont quote me on the 900 dollar deal please..this was a price given to me 6 months ago by a local axle shop.

Just noticed you were another Fla TTA..where is Port Horney at?

As long as you know a good welder/machinist get any 9" machine some billet or regular steel and have the brackets welded on.
Or you could just transfer the lca brackets and shock mounts from a 9 or 10 bolt to the 9" and then just work on the tourqe arm.

Port Horney is Spring Break slang...sort of an inside joke.

I was looking for a bolt in and go, I am sick of my car being down for little project like this. Between HG and tranny probs I never get to enjoy the car.

I guess that must be Daytona.?..

Well everywhere in Fla is Port Horney..

If ever in the west coast.of Florida...hollar

I got my 9" from Mosier. I got it with the ends to run the ford 11" drum brakes so I could hold more boost. Since I ordered mine with the ford ends it was almost $100 cheaper than there advertized price. I think I paid a little over $800 with shipping and every thing. This included the housing, 31 spline axles, axle bearings, axle seals, long wheel studs, misc bolts you need, and torque arm adapter. I ordered the axles with GM bolt pattern and with the 12mm studs so I could use my lug nuts. Then I went and spent $350 for a center section and drum brake set up. The center section has a 3.25 gear in it and a 31 spline detroit locker. The lockers will hold up to abuse alot better than clutch pack style posi's.

I dont know if you consider what I paid a good deal but it was a hell of alot cheaper than the $2500 ready to run set ups they advertize. The hardest part by far is getting the old rear end out.

How did you convert the brakes...what was the total cost to swap rears?

I bought the little adapters that screw into the wheel cylinders and convert it to -3an flare to run braided brake lines. Then on the car you have a piece of rubber brake line that goes from the frame to a "T block" bolted to the stock housing. You leave that rubber house and T block in the car but remove the old lines that went from the block to the stock calipers. I then got some metric to -3an adapters that screwed into the T block. Then I measured and bought 2 -3an braided brake lines. Using the adapters and braided brake lines made it VERY easy. Once I bought the adapters and the lines it didnt take 10 minutes to hook them up. The other thing I had to do was to drill the ford drums for the GM bolt pattern. I did that myself and it was pretty easy. You have that center colar like thing on the end of your axels that centers the drum on the axles when you bolt the drums and tires on. All I had to do was remove the wheel studs and slide the drum on over the axle colar then mark the holes and drill them. The other issue Ive heard people talk about is that I may have to install an adjustable proportioning valve to balance out my brakes. I have my car apart because Iam doing a couple of things to it so I havent had a chance yet to drive it with the new rear end in it but it looks ready to go. Ill have to se how my brakes act when I get it back out on the road. There is another board member who runs the big ford drums on his 9" he said he could hold 20+ pounds of boost no problem with the big drum brakes. The whole reason to put the 9" in was to launch alot harder so the big drums seamed the way to go. As far as total price goes The last time I added it all up I was just over $1300 and was almost done. I bought new:
1. brake shoes
2. wheel cylinders
3. brake hardware kit
4. braided brake lines
5. -3an adapters
6. moroso u-joint girdle
7. housing gasket
8. differential fluid
9. paint
10. brake fluid

since I was swaping this out I also bought: dual air bags, adjustable control arms, tubular torque arm, and a adjustable panhard bar. I would also like to put new rear shocks in but dont know which ones I should get.

One more thing. The housing deal from Mosier is a good deal. You are getting there big drag axles in the kit. My dad has a collection of broken stock 9" axles. He stopped messing with stock axles and bought the Mosier ones and hasnt buted one since (6 yrs ago). He runs a mid 11 second Nova with a 4 speed. It seams that when you shorten stock axles it make them weaker. The mosier housing bolts right in, has the big axles(these alon are like $400), axle bearings are pressed on for you, big wheel studs installed, axle seals, and bolts. It also comes with a big cast iron torque arm adapter that bolts to the housing with 3 bolts. By the time you bought a housing, big axles, new bearings ect, and then had the housing modified for width and suspension and torque arm mountings ect.. $800 shipped to you for the mosier set up seams pretty cheap.
