Well here's a new one for most....Driving across one of our longer bridges today, at about 70 mph, my passenger Ttop starts flopping around, WTF?????? so i begin to slow down, NOPE, too late! gone!

I look behind me to see if its going to shatter, or hit another car, nope, into the water it goes.....

i have no idea how this happened, i know i sinched it down two days earlier...no i didnt lock it maybe i should have....

so heres the question, if i buy another ttop or set that are locking, can i buy new locks for it just like car door locks?
TIA
Dan

Not sure, But I think you can......

and by the way, the situation is not new to me, just happened to me with a different car, 1985 Z-28. Luckily it was early morning, nobody out because I was no where near water and beleive me yours would've shattered, mine did in about a million pieces:eek:

Should be able to have them rekeyed. Saw a T-top fly off my friends '88 Camaro right after he put it on. Weather turned bad and we pulled over, I put the top up on mine, he put his t-tops back on. Got them both on, went around to get back in and when he shut the door, it lifted the T-top just enough for a gust of wind to pick it up, went about 25 feet up and landed 100 feet away, didn't even shatter! (the smart guy didn't latch it when he put it on:rolleyes: )

this is more common than I thought, I guess. a few years back I was driving the truck with the supra on the back and the camaro in fromt of me lost a t-top. I can also say they fly quite high and shatter into A LOT of pieces. I have never put a tow vehicle into an evasive (sp?) maneuver like that. Untill I read this I though it never happened to anyone else.

it happened to me twice in one week... lucky me both times the passenger t top landed in the grass on the side of the road, both times i was expecting it to be broken

Guilty as charged

Fogot to latch mine, It landed in a pile of leaves on the side of the road. Luckily is was October.

This happened to a budy of mine. He was on 95 down near D.C. doing some 3rd gear WOT testing. There was no warning, just a woosh and it was gone. It flew all the way across the highway and shattered with it hit the ground!!

There's no way mine are coming off (silicone);)

I was at the track pulling 1.5 60's and had the drivers t top come unlatched. I had made several passes and the top was locked. I lifted as soon as I heard the pin pop saving the top from flying out. The body had flexed enough for the pin to come out of the latch.
