lost my alternator plug

am putting together 85 turbo car but i cant find the alternator plug in the harness. what color wires is it and where is located so ican plug in the damn thing as i want to drive it soon. again all help appreciated

I need more info. Are you talking about the wiring harness to the ECM? The alt? I have a set of original shop manuals. Brad

Mine was white/clear. One wire going into the harness and one short one with the with a pigtail that screws onto the back of the alternator. I've also seen the plug in black. Going on memory (and a very bad memory) I believe the wire that goes from the plug to the wireharness is brown.

sorry should have been more clear! in the engine compartment from the harness, the only plug i found was the plug that has a green and black wire. i believe this plug is for the ac compressor. when i look in the wire loom i cannot find any wires but those for the starter. i bought a pigtail from AZ but i dont know where to connect them.

I will track down your wires to the alt. as well as the shop manual later tonight. I am going to my father-in-laws 80th birthday dinner soon. I will need a fax number in order to send you the diagram. I haven't figured out to scan into a file and e-mail nor have I taken the time. Brad

I checked the shop manual and my car and there are two wires going into the white/ clear plug on the alternator. The top wire is brown when looking at my PIC. This wire comes out of the wiring harness by the IGN coil and module. The lower wire is red and it comes off the main red line which attaches from the battery at the alternator. The shop manual indicates that the brown wire is size .8 and the short red wire is 1. The shop manual confirms what I am seeing. Let me know if this helps. Brad

that is gr8, thanx. does it say where the brown wire goes? i know u said coil pack but where does it tie into? what wire? all help is appreciated

The brown wire comes from the wiring harness by and underneath the 85 ignition system. If you are installing a completely new wiring harness I cannot give you any help because I am not qualified in this area. I can only help on a stock wiring system. Brad

this is the stock wiring just cant find the wires! was gonna just wire the new plug in if i could find the right wires to wire too.
