I finialy got to open the buick up, and I was wondering, my boost is supposed to be around 11-12psi correct?

Im only boosting 7-8psi, What is the stock boost level for the hotairs?

Also, Im going to up it to around 13-15psi of boost. Do you think I can do this with no problem?

It had a Kenne Bell Chip in it, And I was wondering. Can a chip give you more boost?

If so then that could be why the chip was making it run richer.

They gy said it was set at around 15psi before I got it, what should I do?

Do you have an adjustable wastegate rod? Do you have any exhaust leaks, could be causing your low boost problem. Do you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on your car? I believe stock boost is like 13psi.......15 should be alright on 93 octane, depending on the weather.;) Oh ya your not going by the stock boost gauge are ya?? Cause those things are junk!! Nick

You need to answer the questions asked of you before we can help you. You need a new boost gauge(VDO i.e) or a newly repaired stock boost gauge from Caspers before you can tell what the actual boost is. I learned the hard way and blew up a new motor with an adjustable waste gate actuator trying to reduce boost and the idiot light let me down. Brad 85 GN

- Adj, FPS
- Faze 30-0-30 Boost Gauge (Running 10psi right now and holding)
- Adj, Wastegate Rod
- Exhaust Leak between cat/downpipe
- 160 Thermostat

I noticed that I have Steel Tube headers, I THOUGHT the stock ones were cast iron, but the Header had a crack between 3-5 (imagine that ) I fixed that, and it jumped to 10psi.

Which way do I turn the wastegate to get more boost, I would tighten it correct? (Clockwise)

Cause I was looking at it and If i spread the rod apart, It would open the exhaust port in the turbo not letting it boost. Im gonna mess with it tomarrow. Im going to mess with the boost and fix that damn exhaust leak, change my transmission filter and flush my tranny,. Then mabey we can see some performance differences.

I would like to get it to 15psi, The chip I have in it right now is set for 17psi, so im getting a lil more fuel than needed, but im going to set it to 15psi, and no more.

Im aiming for 225-230rwhp and 325lbs/tq. Wouldnt that be good for a mid to low 14 sec pass?

Heres my mods:
- Kenne Bell 93oct chip
- Custom Steel Tube Headers
- Stock 2.5"? Crossover pipe
- Stock 2.5"? up/down pipe
- Stock 2.5"? Gutted Catilitic Converter complete w/annoying exhaust leak.
- Stock 2.5 Cat-back Exhaust with 2" tips (soon to be replaced)

Est HP/TQ 225/325 @ 15psi

Sound Reasonable?

The stock exhaust manifolds were stainless steel headers.
Yes, shorten the rod to get more boost. You can also try shorting it a little to much that way you have to pull the rod out of the actuator a little to get it on the arm of the puck. That should help the actuator hold more boost before it opens the puck up, in turn MORE BOOST FOR YOU. Any exhaust leaks after the turbo, like your dp to cat leak, will not cause a low boost problem. Not so sure you will get a low 14 sec. pass with just those mods on 15lbs. of boost, unless your 60' time is darn good:confused: Check to make sure you don't have vacuum leaks or that the lines are run the right way. Oh ya your stock up pipe is 2.25 inches, make darn sure thats not leaking, those are terrible you can hardly hear them sometimes. You should put a 9in. K&N on that beast at least;) Seriously though you need a knock gauge at least before you turn that boost up especially with just 93 in the tank, get a used one if you have too!! Nick
