If you're talking a stock ECM that's been modifed, you'll have to take the case off.

Look at the heat sink on the side where the drivers are mounted...there should be 6 drivers there with 5 pins, 3 of the pins soldered into the board and two bent up with a bunch of messy looking resistors and wiring globbed onto the board attached to 'em. :) At least that's how most people install the drivers....stock ECMs have 3 pin transistors in those locations.
 
I believe one of my friends got screwed by a TB.com member. He bought one and I had a look inside. Everything looks to be untouched and unmodified. I drove to Bowling Green with that (unmodified) ECM!:mad:
