I am in the process of rebuilding a cq for a small block chevy. I have everything apart but due to family issue funds just got very tight. Since this transmission has to either be installed or I have to scrap the monte project. I realy don't want to stop working on this car since it is my pass time so I said to myself this SBC really does not make that much hp/torque why not use a standard borg warner master kit. The local trans shop here sells them for $80. So I am going to use that along with a gn servo and .500/.297 boost valves. I know the kit is not a high performance part but I am working with what I can afford now. Can someone offer any advice as to what other mods I should make to the transmission to improve the shifting circuits without buying any other parts, such as drilling any holes in the separator, shimming any springs or cheaply increasing line pressure. I know there are some really good kits out there but they are way over my budget. Maybe a way to buy one of the cheaper kits and making adjustments to it? I am looking to build it as best as possible but keep the cost very minimal. Wish I could afford the good parts because I know there is some really nice parts and kits out there that work really well but as for now this will have to do. Thank You for any help.
