Howdy,

Why can't I run CompCam's 26915 LS1 Valvesprings? They have a 105# @1.8 seat and 293# @1.2 open. I'm extremely new to Buick turbo6 but I've been messing around with Buicks in general for years now. I like the reduced vavle train mass from the "beehive" springs and since I'm going to be running the TA260H cam I think I need a bit more than the stock replacement springs.

Thanks,

Those springs do not sound far off. From memory, the factory specs are 85lb@1.7" and 185@1.34" which is a ~300 lb.in spring. Your springs are slightly stiffer and would seem to sit at 99 lb seated.

The big problem is the #3 exhaust lobe not being centered on the lifter correctly. Check how fast your pushrod spins at idle, my #3 is pretty slow compared to the rest.

So I should break in the cam with the old springs and then after its broken in, switch over to the heavier springs? I'm doing a total rebuild on a 4.1 and at this stage I'm just lining up the parts so I can both watch ebay and shop the catalogs to cut down on the cost of parts as much as I can so I can afford the good machine work this motor deserves. I'm planning on running huge booste on it.

Thanks for the fast reply,

i would think this will be a safe way to go. after all if you look at the 89 and 99 3.8 liter heads they are about the same when it come`s too spring installed hight. i only thing i will say you will have to look at is the valve retainer keeper. the LS1 use a beehive spring so you will need to use the LS1 retainer. also the spring and retainer on the LS1 are the same has the 3800 supercharge. I know with the beehive spring you will be able to run a higher valve lift when compare to double stack spring. let us know how it work out. i am think of doing the same spring (beehive) on my 4.1 champion R cylinder heads.
