Just wanted to know if I have the right part number for the LT1 springs that can be used on turbo buicks
GM # 3927142

Also- do you need to remove the spring cup when adding these springs? or should I keep them on?

Red- Im in the Richmond area. I got the car last summer. My best friend and his dad also have turbo buicks. I love the car and plan to take the engine out before doing any crazy mods or cranking up the boost.

Nice car, i hope mine is that fast some day. your car looks familiar, have you ever been to Richmond Dragway?

What do you suggest when I put my valve springs in? should I keep the seats off or on??

I've been there several times

going to mir (budds creek) on the 21st for a track rental with some local guys and hope to have a chip by then with more fuel in it so I can better my times...only thing holding me back is it leaning out above 20# boost ..my runs were at 23# which was the leanest I could push it before total meltdown

If you use an old z-28 replacement spring like I run you have to do away with the spring cups or you'll have way too much spring pressur do to the sring cup acting as a shim .

I can get you a set like I run and send em up to you ..they use stock retainers and no spring cups ..they have there own dampner inside the spring.
I'll have to check with my buddy and see what I can get em for ya for.

heck Im thinking about hooking my nos system up and trying it out at the track rental..

well gotta run ..we can get together some time once it gets nice out .

I'll see about them springs ...but If I were you and was taking the heads off a mild port would be the way to go ..a couple hundred bucks could make a big difference in the heads.

Later...RED

No thanks on the springs guys, I already have a set of LT-1s ready to be put in.

Red- I dont know if I have seen you at richmond dragway or not but I went to the budds creek rental in september (im guessing you know bobby?) It was a blast to me, I didnt run because my car is crap, but my friend ran his 87, pretty much stock 13.4@100
:)
I would like to run this spring but I plan to take my engine out and re-gasket it(oil is everywhere) and put new chain, oil pump and other little things on. Im not shure if I should take the heads off, the engine seems original in every way and dont want to deal with sealing the heads. I dont know, havent decided yet. but I havent heard from anyone on the spring budds creak event. If it is that soon, it doesnt look like I will run, but will go and watch.

Your car seems crazy fast, I want to see it go down the strip
Tell me any additional info on the budds creek event

I must have had 4 or 5 different sets of instructions for the valve springs and NONE of them mentioned the cups,so I put them back on the LT1 springs and promptly broke my timing gear..DON'T USE THEM !

I know several Bobby's ...LOL

I usually run in the import domestic shootout at budds creek too.

do you know crazy guy named Greg up there with 2 turbo buicks?
If so he knows who I am I see him at richmond dragway everytime I go...he was trippin on my car last time:D

I have meet alot of people around here with turbobuicks. Bobby Mason was the one who organized the budds creek event in september. Do you know who I am talking about? Is he going to this next event? I would love to come and see your car.

I dont know if I have meet Greg or not, but i have meet a crazy old guy with a turbo buick there. And he really was a crazy old man!

I do know some of the people that rent budds creek(im guessing they are the same people you are talking about) My friend bought a car from one of them (John Durban ring a bell?)
anyway let me know if these are the people you are talking about
