Checking to see if anyone can recommend a good machine shop to line bore/hone block with steel caps and girdle, bore .010, and deck for MLS gasket. I'm located in GA, but cover AL, TN, and FL for my job. I have a local old school machine shop, but would prefer someone who knows these Buick V6 engines, has newer equipment, the specific torque plates, experience installing girdles, and proven results. As they say, if you can't afford to do it twice, you can only afford the best.

For some reason, the lack of machine shop referrals in my area doesn't surprise me. Should I highly consider sending my block out to the well know shops, or can I trust a local shop with a decent reputation? They all seem to have mixed reviews. My perception is a bore/hone using longer fixtures designed for a v8 has the potential to produce questionable results on a shorter V6. I have my own .0001 Mitutoyo bore gauge to check the work, but obviously that would be after the fact, and I don't want to compromise my block. Any feedback is welcome.

Check with Watts Performance in GA and see who they use. They do nice work.
