Wanted to find out if there are any differences in the way the rocker towers need to be modified to accept roller rockers depending on the manufacturer used.

I will be using a T&D roller rocker assembly, but don't have it handy to give to the machinist along with my heads. He's done a ton of TR heads, but wanted to know if there are any specific instructions I need to provide for T&D vs Harland Sharpe, etc...

thanks!
Scott

I'll answer my own question-- the consensus is that there is no difference.

Should there be ANY contact betweek the washers next to the rocker arms and the rocker shaft pedestal?

Pedestal

I am in the process of getting a broken pedestal replaced (actually all 3 on one head ) One broke off and the other 2 were cracked. A combination of over torqueing and instead of haveing a machine shop mill away only the necessary amount----I did it with a die grinder. My suggestion would be to have your pedestal cut NO MORE than necessary to clear!!! Torque to 25 ft. lbs. with oil !!!! Here/s somthing else I found. The hole in the pedestal is drilled and tapped an extra .500 deeper than we are using with factory bolts. Which BTW are very good bolts. I purchased 2 in.( under the head length) grade 8 bolts and run a tap in the hole to be sure they were clear. Did some measuring with calipers to make sure that they don/t bottom out and will be using them on my other side.
