Maf Sensor Issues

GUys I have been chasing this MAF sensor issue for several months now. Is the 87 GN Turbo Motor supposed to have a MAF sensor that resembles just a straight tube. Advance auto parts gave me a "new" maf sensor that is smaller in diameter and tapers near the center. I drove it and YES the car drives but still THE CAR FEELS LIKE ****. NO power. KNOCK. I think they gave me the wrong MAF. I will go back tomorrow and check this out. My stock MAF is bigger compared to this and sure as hell doesnt taper near the middle. You guys have any pics of the stock MAF? Anyone experience this before? Could this be a NA Maf?

The GN maf is straight thur tube, no necking down to a smaller diameter. Yep,it sounds like they're selling you one of the FWD 3.8L MAFs.

be carefull.. there is not a company that can rebuild these right. see where the local buick dealer gets them these days if they have a gn in the shop. i got one from a parts store and it cought on fire in 3 sec. i just swapped over to the transulator + and the lt1 maf...

Yeah,just get it over and up grade to a LT1/LS1 style maf and translator. Search the parts for sale section,they pop up often.

thanks guys I really appreciate it. I will definately find out this morning when I go to advance around 9 am. Im pretty upset as i was assured that was the correct part. We will see and I will let ya'll know.

You can't really be too terribly mad at them, after all, they really don't know the difference, and can only go by what their computer tells them.
It's the idiots at corporate that can't get it right.

You just can't get a decent rebuilt MAF any longer. You'll get old and grey trying.

Hey guys well good news. I did get the part and they actually credited me some cash from the last one. Corporate musta been way off because this wasnt even a regal MAF. I installed the rebuilt one and it definately goes now. All i need now is that alky kit and ill be good to go. Thanks a mil guys.

Do you have a scanmaster? if so check your AF readings at WOT and tell us what it say's and the boost your running.
