My stock MAF sensor finally went out two weeks ago. Replaced it with one that Conley's had in stock (dont know where they get theirs from), and I replaced the o2 sensor. Put it on, hooked up turbo link--pulling 6 gps. After about a week car started running like crap. Turbo link--4gps now. Took Maf back--replaced it with another. Car ran good for two days until this one crapped out on me and threw a code 44. Only pulling 4 gps again. well, the next day all of my car buddies were going to the track, so I had to race, right? I was able to race with no code (no lean condition) by taking off my air filter and removing both screens and it ran fine, but i cant drive around like that all the time? So what Im asking is: Is something making these MAF sensors crap out on me--or are they just crap to begin with? What would make them fail? I would go with the LT-1 MAF and translator, but I don't know anything about it + I've heard they are impossible to tune.
