Anybody put a magnetic drain plug in a rjc oil pan? If so what brand?

Get a small neodymium rare earth magnet and put on the end of the stock plug. Or just buy magnetic drain plug. Name brand really doesn't matter.

Yep...a rare earth magnet is so strong...you can put it on the outside of the pan and it will still work.

Bobby at RPE epoxied magnets in the valley of my engine but I still keep a rare earth magnet on the oil filter

Tip: If you can scrounge up some old computer disk drives that are no good, pry them fuckers apart and use the magnets inside. Just stick them to the bottom of your oil pan and/or oil filter. Not sure if they are rare earth, but they damn sure aren't like the lawyer advertisement refrigerator magnets that come glued to the back of your phone book. ;)

^ They also stick well to fuel filters. The horseshoe shape is perfect for wrapping around the hose inlet.

Or take a length of automotive wire and strip the insulation off and wrap the bare copper wire around the plug 5 times or so and touch one end to the + side of a battery and the other side to the - side for a few seconds and bingo it's magnetize, now it's nowhere as strong as a rare earth magnet though
