What are the pros and cons of lock up converters vs non-lock up converters , i am swaping a 87-t-type drive line in to a 83 malibu wagon and i am going to use a caspers harness. just curious about the converters??

You'll want a lockup converter if you are driving it on the street. Less heat in the transmission when using one. Better gas mileage. If you lock it up at the track it will provide slightly better times.

If you are planning on running a TE-44 or smaller use the stock lockup D5 12" convertor and have it rebuilt/restalled to 2800rpm. Will survive lots of abuse and works out nice.

converter rebuild

Jason, send it to the real art-carr at cpt transmissions his converters are great. any word on the turbo yet? money?

Just as I thought!!

Your a man of your word, honest huh!, well you have to live with that not me. You can shure count on me to help you out any chance I can on any buick board on your trans-plant. Good Luck!!!

man of my word

i am not going to argue thi with you , here is the final reply. i was under the impression that the turbo was like new or almost new. the shaft play was excessive even with the oil in the turbo the play was still unaccebtable. It needed rebuilt i felt that the price i paid you was fair and i will not loose any sleep over this deal. I am not going to post any more replys to this if you dont want to help thats fine i do pretty well on my own. if you want to throw me under the bus thats fine with what i will have in this turbo i could have got one allready rebuilt for off of ebay for. so in closing i am sorry if you felt like you got screwed so on my end i felt like you misrepresented the shape of the turbo. THANK YOU AND HAVE A GOOD DAY. sir!

Jason, You know darn well that I told you over and over that I had no idea how many miles were on that turbo cause it was on there when I bought the car!! Should I post up all the e-mails between us so you can remember a little better? I also left the turbo "ON THE CAR" and took you for a ride in it and with both of us in the car it went sideway's and NO noise from the turbo or any smoke at all.. That's why I left it on the car, so people could see for themselves The turbo was fine, I just dropped the price to you cause I did not know how much shaft play there should be. being a honest person and NOT wanting to screw someone over. You paid $300.00 for a TE-44 with a polished housing, and a adjustable actuator. and when I called a well known buick engine builder he said I screwed up, the turbo was fine that they all have shaft-play except on ball bearing ones. So on our last phone call, I said just send me $75.00 and were even and you said that you would have it checked out and if was cheap you would send me $75.00. Well I knew right there not to count on it. So for the record, and for everyone on this web-site. For Jason thinking this turbo was like new or almost new is a complete "LIE!!" and I'll be glade to list all our e-mail's so it don't look like I made this turbo out to be "LIKE NEW". I even sent him pic's of it, and left it on the car so someone could feel how it pulls, and listen to it, also see if it smokes. So to end this: I feel I did the right thing on all ends and Iv'e been totaly honest with him. and I "NEVER" misrepresented the shape of the turbo EVER!! How could I when I sent pic's,left it on the car, and he drove in it??Jason, the TE-44 w/pollished housing and a adjustable actuator would have costed over $800.00 you should stop comparing e-bay figures to a well known turbo builder like john craig. So you have a nice day, SON! :biggrin

I Done

You win some you lose some. Oh well i guess i got a used turbo for 300$ not bad. even though i had to rebuild thanks.

Keep Going On!!

Jason, keep on going! now your true colors are coming out and your letting everyone else on this board know what kind of person you really are.. I'm shure everyone here would like to do some buisness with you now!! you seamed to be a nice guy but (guess not). I'll be watching ALL your posts from now on at ALL the buick boards and I'll be shure to warn everyone you come in contact with about your "man of my word" buisness practices. cause I WOULD'NT WANT ANOTHER MEMBER TO GET THE SHAFT FROM YOU LIKE I DID.. " GOOD LUCK " I'll get my money's worth by saving someone else from EVER doing buisness with you or helping you for that matter. see ya boy!! ;)

Everything Comes Back Full Circle

The reason I joined the buick comunity was the help that other members would give each other just for the sake of keeping the turbo cars on the road. And also to help keep them running fast as to be feared by all. I would be ashamed to call myself a man to sell my self short for a lousy 75.00, to go see a turbo run drive in the car then take advantage of a guy because of the old end play act. Say you will pay him the money then go agenst your word and have the guts to say he sold you a bad turbo seems like turbo was good to me. I guess McDonalds dosen't pay very well hay maby KFC dose.
Think about it is making yourself look bad worth 75.00? Hope you are not one of the few bad seeds that spoil the bunch. " THAT'S WHAT MOMA USTA SAY" :o :o  :(

man of my word

heres the deal, i seen the play and i thought it was excessive, i didnt want to get burned. this stuff is all new to me. the guy i took it to said it was not bad , but it needed rebuit berofe the wheels got in to the housing and i could use it as a paper weight. This guy rebuilds a lot of turbs and have been doing it for a long time. i thought what i paid was fair. i was not trying to be a butt . I thought it was low mileage.A man of my word. i am just that. i told scott that if it didnt cost me to much then i would send hin the 75$. it cost me more that what i thought it was going to. so imo it didnt owe him any thing further. i you guys dont want to help me thats fine. i will still ask and still post. everyone is entitled to there opnion. i guess if i would have put the turbo on and destroyed my motor or the turbo becasue there was "nothing wrong with it then" the conversation would be going the other way. you can sit there all day and say what you want if this was going the other way. like i said before you win some you lose some , i didnt say i won, i would have much rather paid him what he was asking and not had it rebuild it would have been cheaper for me that way. i my opnion i lost i have more money in it than i wanted. :( .every story has to sides and i wont resort to name calling.

keep the money, you need it more than me!!

THE GUY YOU TOOK IT TO SAID "IT WAS NOT BAD" this is why your NOT a man of your word!!! QUOTE#2) I THOUGHT IT WAS A LOW MILEAGE TURBO. your lieing again right thru your teeth. you along with everyone else that asked about this turbo asked "HOW MANY MILES ON THE TURBO?" and my Honest reply to everyone was " I have no idea cause it was on there when I bought the car on 2/26/05 now WHY do you keep saying you thought it was low mileage, like new, almost new? your full of it jason you screwed me you know it and thats it, bottom line!!!! you keep the damn $75.00 you must need it more than me. Your makeing a good name for yourself over $75.00. good job, CROOK!!!!, LIER!!!

Truth comes out

Like you stated was ok you decided to rebuild. You knew $75.00 was owed to scott and then you say your new to this stuff and you find sombody willing to help you then you take advantage of him. Now if other people help you are you going to take advantage of them. Better yet you get to know more about this stuff then are you going to deceive people to make a proffit sounds to me you need to sit down and look at your self and ask would I like people to rip me off. If you wouldn't like it then don't do it to others. It takes a bigger man to stand up and say you know what i was wrong didnot use my better judgement I'm sorry here is your money I was low on cash didn't know what to do and i made a mistake. Otherwise you mine as well go back to the dollar store and stick with match box cars and stay away from big boy toys as real men have pride and tall skinny boys have no morals and lack of self worth.  :o :frown:

Iv'e done a very good job of describing parts correctly and sending them on time in the past to everyone else on this and other web sites and I just don't want my name out there as misrepresenting something that I did'nt.....period!! now that you read every link you know I posted it in the feedback sec. already and tried to relocate this isue. thanks, scot w.
