MAP sensor not used on factory ecm?

I just purchased Direct-Scan and was reading through the instructions and it said "the ECM does not actually have a manifold pressure input", but it uses "a calculated 'guess'by the ECM" to sense boost????? I thought the MAP sensor was there to tell the ECM vacuum AND boost conditions. What's the deal.

the only thing the map on a buick does is light the stock boost gauge

digital dash cars dont even have a map sensor but a pressure swith to light the boost lights in the dash thats what the other plug in the harness by the map sensor is for
