My Direct Scan shows a trouble code. It is Code 23 MAT Low! This is the manifold air temperature sensor acording to the trouble code chart. Can anyone tell me where this sensor is located. The sensor diagram on the Turbo Regal board does not show this sensor.

Assuming that you still have a stock air box. There is an elbow on top of the air box that turns into the MAF. The MAT is located in that elbow.

Gofstbuick, I am aware of that sensor, but I thought that it is the charged air temperature sensor? Direct Scan correctly shows the temperature of the air going into the MAF. Isn't there another one up on the manifold on the drivers side adjacent to the throttle body? There are two collant temperature sensors, one that sticks horizontally out the front of the manifold and one that is mounted vertically just behind it. Right behind them is one that screws vertically into an intake runner of the manifold. Could this be the manifold air temperature sensor?

What color are the wires going to the sensor location I just described, and what color are the wires to the sensor you think is the MAT? Not trying to be funny, but I'm looking at a wiring diagram, so we'll try to figure this out together. okay

The MAT sensor is the sensor by the maf that measures air temperature. The other sensors are coolant.

The three sensors in the intake by the TB are

Temperature Light sensor ( Turns on the Temp light when engine coolant is overheated ) Located on passenger side front of intake with single wire.

Fan Temperature Sensor ( Turns the fan onto high or on when engine coolant temps reaches certain temp ) Located on top driver side front of intake manifold has one wire plug.

Computer Engine coolant sensor ( This 2 wire sensor relates engine temperature to the ECM for proper cold and warm running ) Located drivers side front of intake has 2 wire plug.

Sorry everyone! Thats what I get for trying to go by memory. I went home and looked at lunch and there is not a third sensor. Only the two coolant sensors. I was dreaming. I ordered a new MAT Sensor so I will see if it helps. I am trying to cure a tip in stumble that just started. I changed the O2 sensor last night but that did not seem to help. Any ideas what would cause a tip in stumble? If the car had a carb I would check the accelerator pump and the idle adjustment screws. Thanks for everyones help on the MAT sensor.

One thing the trouble tree says is that resistance across the sensor terminals should be less than 25000 ohms on a good sensor.
