Just in case anyone else likes to road race:

Both myself and Larry will be going to the may drivers school @ Sebring. It is the entire track, and is 2 days, cost is $250. It is sponsored by the local BMW club and NASA-FL www.nasafl.org

Goto www.nasafl.org and goto the May sebring event. This school is on may 25/26 (sat/sun). You get plenty of teaching and track time. We currently have 2 GN's and 1 TTA going. Would love to see some more buick powered cars running around the track. Please goto that website or email me if anyone has any questions.

Thanks.

Thats right guys, stopping and then turning just after you've hit 130-140 mph!

Imagine it like this, it's Kinda like drag racing with a few twists and slowdowns along the way!

hehe

Sounds cool.

I think I will wait for Homestead. It is much closer. Are you guys coming down for the Homestead or Moroso schools?

Do you have some more information on the school? I couldn't find anyting on either the NASA or sebring site.

This is just in time. Friday I am having the following mods done to my 87 GN:

PST super front end kit
moog springs (lowered 1 1/2" front and back)
koni shocks
stock rims with Dunlop 225/50/15 front and 265/50/15 rear.
I am also doing my brake pads and shoes this weekend.

What else would I need for better autocrossing?

goto www.sunshinebeemer.com and click on May Sebring. It's got event details listed there. It sounds like your setup is pretty good for the autocross as it sits. I would recommend the performance friction Z-rated brake pads, available at Autozone. They are very good for that type of racing, as well as every day street use.

Dang, I live here in Sebring but destroyed my crank and rods last month. I don't think I'll have the car together by then:mad:

Come on out and watch the GN's go whistling by then!

We've got 2 GN's, 1 98 Firebird forumla and 1 2001 SS Camaro Z28 going from our local muscle car club. www.badrap.net

I'll put up pictures and video of the event when it is done on our website.

bob,

Are you guys coming down for the Moroso or even the Homestead track days?

Bob,

Which is better for auto-x?

Posi?
hump?
or limited slip?

TIA

I wouldnt see a problem with either posi or limited slip. Your gonna burn the tires pretty good when you nail it going slow enough to downshift to 1st gear, if the course gets that slow. Either way, just make sure its not pegleg or your gonna be a "blaze of glory" around the entire course!!

:)

Hey, we are going to the September Sebring NASA event, if you want to go to a real track. Cost is $250 and includes 2 days of instructed track time. 3 sessions per day, 30 minutes of driving the track per session. Email me if you would like to go, it's awesome.
