Hello Everyone,

I need help finding a place in Tennessee or Kentucky that can media blast a car body for me when I get back from Afganistan. It will be a shell when it gets blasted so I'm hoping since there's no prep it will be cheaper.

Thanks in advance
josh

If you're willing to go to North Alabama we know a guy.

If 1doller still has the body there is a place in the same town he lives in that does it. If I remeber that body is striped down or close to it. I can call around for you next week if you need me to. There is also a guy by me in Kingsport that does it Ive never used him but I can ask around see who has.

Hey 681tonburb,
The car in question is 1dollar's car, if you don't mind can you call the shop by him and see what they charge and how long it would take? I may just turn the drive down there to pick up the body into a mini vacation and have it done there, then bring it home.

Ill see what I can find out for you.If needed my garage and tools are open to you. I could always drop it off to the guy in Lebanon that does the power block TV cars but I bet he would be on the high side $$$. We can shoot it down with primer here at my place after its blasted down.

681tonburb,
Are you in the same town as 1dollar? or just really close by? Also how long would it take to shot some self etching primer on the car?

Im just close by my wife works over his way every once a while she is a EMT and has a rotation out that way. I would think it wont take to long to lay down the primmer its the cleaning before that will take the time. You will need to wipe the whole car down with some 3m bodyprep cleaner or some thing like that. I would set a side a 1/2 day at least just in case. The guuy thats doing my body work on my GN lives out that way too so he is always an option too. I didnt blast mine down Im just taking the DA sander to it.

Cool sounds like an option. I was thinking about using a DA but I don't have the tools to do it. Plus since it will be stripped it just sounds easier to just get it blasted instead. I'm going to have a hard enuff time stripping the under carrage by hand without a rotisserie to beable to spray bed liner on it without messing with the top side also.

Under side is easy for you just get one of those sand blaster presure washers and blast the crap out of the under side then take it to the hoby shop on base use the lift to take body off the frame give it a quick sand and paint and call it a day. you could build a body dolly and remove it form the frame in no tiime since its stripped down already the hard work is done. then they could blast the frame and under side of car or we could put it on my land scape trailor and lift it up enough that the blaster can get under the car but it will be a paine to paint.

I do have a body dollie I made here at the house we cold use for the body if needed it was made for a smaller car so we may need to add one more set of wheels to it to take the waight but it is an option if you can come down and stay a day or too.

I was thinking about just using a engine lift to take the body off the frame so I can get the frame sand blasted and powder coated in Clarksville. This really is going to be acouple of years build I would just like to get the body blasted right away so I can do more work getting the panels straight and ready for paint and I really hate stripping paint also. so just blasting the uper part of the body would be fine.

Chance, Stripmasters here in Nashville TN could handle that media blasting job for you. I have used them frequently. (615)255-4850 is the number.
