METHANOL is it a fuel RAZOR

Methinks you are correct. Meth cools and adds a fuel to the mix.......


I ran out of charcoal lighter fluid last weekend, and the meth made a great substitute......

It is a fuel.

The more you spray in the more reg fuel you can take out,Just DONT EVER run without it if its tuned to run with it

Top Alcohol Dragster runs low 5's in the 1/4.. guess what fuel it uses And no its not C16

Indy cars.. run methanol.. yeah its blahhh

It is one of the best fuels for making power.. just very hard on components.

Methanol is a proven fuel. If they are saying blah they are obviously not familar with it. As already stated top fuel dragsters run it and there is obviously a reason why. People who know nothing about methanol will always be nay sayers but if you are on this board you will see post after post of how well it is working. Too many people are running succesful passes at the track for it to not work.

Figure the economics of meth vs C16;

$500 - Kit- one time cost

$4.50 -Meth per gallon x 10 gallons per season (2 events +a whole mess of track test days, plus the odd street war) = $45.00

So, the math- $545 for the first season, with ongoing meth of about $50/year. Only other fuel cost is for 93 octane. Car is 100% streetable, and in fact just passed emissions day before yesterday.

vs:

Race Gas

$6.50 - per gallon x 75 gallons season = $488. Car is streetable.


To me, the majority of us playing with these cars benefit more form the alky than chasing down race gas. Sure, the above #s can change, but the math remains the same.
