I have the specs on the M1 also,it states M1 is the best straight methanol on the market, consistently 99.85+%

The F & L is 99.95% minimum ,not much difference but it seems the F&L is more pure methanol?

The place I bought it from said it is a cleaner ( The F & L methanol) & therefore no paperwork/form to fill out.

Post where you got it in case someone is looking for it in your area

I've been burning the industrial grade methanol for as long as I can remember. 8, 9 years now. It is far cheaper than the racing grade methanol that must be used at special events where the fuel is checked for proper SG.
Not as pure, but I haven't noticed any ill effects from that fact. Again, I've been burning the stuff exclusively for 8 or 9 years.

Are the simple aux alky kits designed in such a way that they really need the methanol that pure???

Don,
To me methanol is methanol. Buy the cheapest you can find. The kits dont care if its 1.00 per gallon or 10.00 per gallon methanol. Its all the same.

The only methanol that may create issues is the one they use for dry cleaning as it may contain lint.

Also some of the methanol "Cleaning" products the environmental people use has a small amount of lubricant in it  I found this out the hard way we keep drums of it here at my work place to sell to our clients I was able to get it for 50 cents a gallon LOL... was great till I needed a new pump   I am not entirely sure what is in it (msds's dont list it) but its rated at 98% pure with 2 percent lubricant

interesting to find out what the "lube" is. Maybe it's Klotz, and your pump STB for other reason!!:D
