Hey there, this is my first post im a new member to the site but i have been cruisin ur forums before but just not as a member. I finally purchased a 1987 gn from portlan oregon. it has 46k on it and is completely stock. Im lookin to make this car a very mild street custom this is in no way a drag car or race car. i just want it to run like its stock but keep up with the best of em when i let it off the chain, if you guys could list out the parts you think are great mild upgrades I would greatly appreciate it. Money isnt neccessarily an issue as i just inherited a couple bucks due to a family members passing. So anything from turbo upgrades engine trans... everything! thanks alot this site is great iv been dreamin about gettin a gn my whole life!

Congrats on the car sounds like you got a nice one!

It may be easier if you lay out some kind of a budget for yourself these kind of things can get out of hand pretty fast....most of the guys on here will tell you:)

You say you want to stay mild but run with most of the car on the road....that can be a decision to make since there are cars like the New Z06 and ZR1 running around that are flat out bad a$$ off the floor.

If I were you I would decide how fast I want to go and then most everybody will chime in with a list of parts to get you there and a price but if money is not really a problem then just ask yourself ......How fast?

I think a solid running mid to low 12's car is really good on the street and would handle most off the floor cars. That kind of e.t is very attainable without throwing tons of parts at the car.

So how fast you wanna go?

1st of all wellcome the darkside,as far as a mild setup you can go with what i have in my signature to start with (high 12's) for $1500 bucks. And as far as the money you inherited that for sure is going to come in handy with this cars

pretty much what Diaz has is a good start, I dont know that you need a converter or trans work unless your tans needs it but with 46k on it I am sure it is fine.

Definitely go with the standards.....

Good exhaust, TE44 or TA49 and a down pipe, fule pump, chip, K&N filter setup some bettr injectors a little boost and a set of tires and you should be there. And depending on how much boost 20psi or better an alky kit.

Thanks very much for the quick responses haha. That link has been extremely helpful. Thanks for all the help!

X2 on the alky.... best bang for the buck product, make sure you have all the supporting mods; Adj wastegate, RJC boost control, TT Chip, 340 Walbro hotwired, bigger injectors, K&N Filter, MT ET streets, good tune and turn up the boost... :D

Or swap to an E85 set up. Cost is similar to Alky, sometimes cheaper. More fail safe than Alky. Read up in the E85 section. Pretty easy to do.
