hey guys i have a question about something i noticed today. my motor has about 1500 miles on it since it last blew the HG's on the old setup which had 2500 on that. so anyway i got it redone by the builder and all has been fine. i have set hte boost at 15psi and even put xylene in the tank to protect from any knock. i have never seen anything more hten 4 degrees and its usually on the shifts. now today i went out to change my oil and noticed that hte oil fill cap was milky looking. i looked at hte dipstick and the oil does not look milky or bad for that matter. the car has great oil pressure. i do have a small coolant leak on a hose that i have to replace but nothing major and i havetn seen it in a while. well i notice every month or so im like 2 cups down in the radiator. my question is the car runs and pulls great so i doubt its a headgasket again. could the intake have a small leak and be getting inot hte oil?? the oil has a hint of dirtiness but no milkshake. any ideas?? im gonna do a pressure test on the cooling system this weekend. the other thing was the radiator has a foam in it but no bubbles like a blown headgasket. let me know what you think

I've seen condensation do what you describe on several cars in humid environments. But, since you seem to be losing coolant I would pressure test it and look for a cracked head, provided you have no coolant leaks.

Make sure your PCV system is working properly. If you have one of those check valves, take it out and see if the moisture stops

Try some sealer or sealant tabs in your coolant system. You probably have some water going by somewhere.........head or intake gasket.

I've seen the same thing as Jim says, if you have a PCV check valve get rid of it and make sure you have the correct GN PCV in place.

hmmmm from what i can see i have teh basic AC delco PCV with a straight vaccum line going to it, is that hte right one? yeah im gonna hvae to pressure test it and go from there and ill thorw some sealant tabs. as for the moisture in the air i live right by the ocean and every night the car is covered in dew from the wet air. thanks so far guys im gonna go check out so of this stuff.

does that PCV just have a regualr old hose going to it nothing special?? thanks

ok a little update. i too ka compression test all were close to 150psi per cylinder with the lowest being a little over 130. i did a pressure test on the radiator and see that i have a hole in the upper radiator hose that i did not notice again. it was coming out good when i put pressure to it. so now i have to wait to get a hose and then i can go from there again. as for bubble in the overflow no i dont have any if anything it goes dry after i fill it up. thanks so far ill keep you guys posted

ok newest update and it dont look good. i changed the oil the other night and took the car out and even raced it a couple times. came back home and looked at hte dipstick and the oil was looking clean as a whislte. took the car out for a spin with my brother when he came over for turkey day and the car felt great and checked the oil again once i came back and it was clean just dirty. well the car has been sitting till i got the new radiator hose on. today i got the new hose on and did a pressure check of the coolant. i lost about 2 psi from 16psi in about 3 minutes, which didnt seem bad. well i started to car and let it run a little and it ran fine i shut it down and seen that hte dipstick was higher then befpre nad looking milky more then before. the radiator seems to not go low on coolant at all now. i called up Merkel to see what was up and we are both at a lost right now until more tests are done. im at a lost but it seems like im gonna do all new gaskets on the top end and what not. the block has all the machine work that can be done to it i think im gonna save whats left before i hurt some bearings and do the top end? unless you guys have any idea on what to look for? thanks :(

Look for a crane.

BTW, that hose is a special, formed hose. Discontinued. But there is an alternative GM P/N that works just as well with a little trimming. Maybe somebody can recall - that P/N was published in GNXtra some months ago...

:)
