well, my car has had some transmission problems lately, it was slipping on the 2-3 shift and shifting really weakly on all the other shifts so i adjusted the tv cable and now it churps the 1-2 shift and shifts about as hard on the 2-3 shift but i dont have any over drive now:confused:

my shifter has always been off, i drive around in od but its actully in drive. its about one knotch off. over drive is between where it should be and N so when ever i got it on the high way i would tap it up half a knotch and the car would shift in to 4th now when ever i knock it in to over drive theres no shift. ive counted the shifts and im only maken it threw 3 gears and going 55 mph its runnning at 2600 rpms (i just got that for all your referances just in case:) ) any ideas as to whats going on, i know the shifter being off is a seperet problem that ill deal with later with a set of lightning rods, i just want to have over drive back as soon as possable.

But I thought the TV cable, among other things, controlled the part throttle shifts. By backing it out, you may have caused the line pressure to go up causing firmer shifts AND caused the shift point to go up as well. - There are many people here nad hopefully one or more can check me on these comments.

With shifter in your OD position, try bringing up the speed (in a safe and legal manor of course) way above the usual 3-4 shift speed (like maybe 85mph) and the abruptly take foot off the throttle and see if that will cue OD.

You really need to adjust you shifter. Here is some good reading about the shifter you would like to install and more:

first fix the shifter, than you will know what gear your in for sure.go 65mph in d3 and shift to od .do you have fourth?if not ,disconnect tv cable from carb/throtlle body and accelerate slow to 65 .do you have fourth?if your engine speed doesnt drop and climb when cycling the shifter at this mph from od to d3 suspect a stuck 3/4 shift valve.very common on this transmission.if it dont shift when you disconnect the cable follow the first test as the tv exhaust ball is installed in the valve body.
