are these something rare? because i can say that i have only seen 2 of them ever, one was driving and the other is rotting infront of some guys house near me.. just wondering if they were anything special, if some one knows of a website that has any info on them i would like to see it.

thanks

They're not really hatchbacks. They have a trunk opening but it's a lot smaller then the trunk opening for our cars. I've seen plenty and they have the same trunk size I believe, but anything you put in that trunk has to be squeezed in the small trunk opening.

The glass doesn't lift.

As the ad states, only 200 '86 montes were built. They made about 6000 1987's.

Aerocoupes are actually the ANTI-HATCHBACK with a trunk lid half the size of a regular Monte.

The Pontiac version has only a Mail Slot for a trunk lid.

About 1200 production pontiac 2+2's were built in 1986 only.

another interesting question .... how much does the back window glass cost today :)

i dont know the exact # but i know it HAS to be up there

Pontiac 2+2's were HIDEOUS....

As for that Hatch Glass I hear they go for upwards of $1200

I HAD A SILVER............

AEROCOUPE AND IT WAS A TURD FROM THE GET GO. sENT ME TO BUY MY FIRST 87GN SHORTLY THEREAFTER,,,AND HAVENT EVER TURNED BACK:D

My neighbor has one, all stock, and brags about it being fast. He thinks it's the shiznit and keeps it in storage. Anyway, sorry if I offend anyone, but they are HORRENDOUS! People actually payed MORE for them as an option.

I like them.:D Of course, I like most of the odd-ball cars:Shelby Charger 2.2?:) Anyway, remember that most Superbirds sat on dealer lots for months before being sold. Some even had the wings removed because people didn't like them. :mad:Now what do people say about them and the Daytona? I think someday the Monte will catch on.

Sure its ugly. Mid 70's Dodge chargers, Torino talledegas and mercury cyclones were pretty ugly, too and they owned NASCAR (along with ugly daytonas and superbirds).

Cars that are designed in a wind tunnel (vs. by automotive stylists) are pretty much guaranteed to be ugly. This is why Studebakers held so many land speed records over the years.

It used to be said that "beautiful" aircraft fly better than ugly ones. Since the whole purpose on a race car is not to fly, it makes sense that the result would be ugly.

UNGN is right...200 of the '86's. If you ever find one for a good price, might be worth picking up....but they're soooo ugly. Rear glass is over $1200 I believe. The hoodrats like em though, you can put 15"s on the back deck. ;)
