I wanted to find out what you think would be best way to do this. I currently have a 9x11 stalled at 3200 rpm with a TE45a turbo, champ irons, V4, thdp, etc. It has a tiny bit lag on the street but at the track i pull consistent high 1.5s with the 26x10 slicks spinning. Do you think i should change the stall on the convertor to 3500 or 3600 to better suit the turbo or will this make it sloppy driving around town? I have the tranny out so it won't be a big deal. Im tempted to just upgrade to bigger slicks like 28x10s and leave the convertor alone....what do you think?

TIA

I would go with the bigger slicks first and give them a try. You can't loose anything. You've got enough motor for them.

Yeah but since i got it all out i want to do it while its convenient.....Im thinking of just going to 3500 and be done with it.

I've got almost the same setup that you have. But i have a stock converter and i just got my turbo. So i am going to a Precision 9' 3600 stall when i get the extra money. You will be looking at $1000 for that converter. Just something for you to look into.

Nah i like the 9x11....i think its a better piece than the vigilante. Besides im gonna upgrade to Bruces new billet one too.

Yes, more stall = more heat. I assume you have a good external tranny cooler with this setup? If not, get one now! Heat kills the tranny and converter.
I've seen a much larger degree of "sloppiness" in cars with 3500+ as compared to a 3200, but, you may be at the stage of the game where you need it in order to go quicker. It just depends on if you're willing to give up some street driving comfort, to achieve better results. Of all the performance converters, I have seen, and believe that the Precision Vigilante maintains the tightest feel at higher stalls, but, since you've already bought one you like, then you obviously need to just have it loosened. Just keep in mind, you will probably feel the 300-400 stall difference in everyday driving.

i already have a tranny cooler but i was gonna junk it and find the biggest one i can get my hands on....i also have a deep pan on the trans too and plan to go with a trans temp gauge to keep every thing in check.

I have a T63E and had a PTS 3200 stall sent it back to Bruce, now 3600 and went 11.49@121 last week on 26in tires. No problem on the street with the biggest cooler Bruce sells and his shallow pan. Car's trans never gets above 175 if that.. Now I'm just questioning my inj and FP, post to follow.

the TE45 needs at least 3600 stall...should flash to 4000...if you want to go fast that is.....

How do you like that shallow pan? I was thinking of going with the deep pan but it seems like everybody gets the shallow for some reason. I think ill take the stall up to 3600 then...azgn, what kind of 60ft times do you have?

Shallow pan is fine but I would get the deep just in case you want to go with Bruce's bat brake down the road, I think they are the same price.

Since you mentioned it.....should i got with the BAT brake? I heard that you really start breaking stuff using a tbrake. Either way i can hold like 14psi with the foot brake.

I wouldn't unless your trans is built around the brake. If your holding that much on the foot brake leave it alone though I can imagine what it feels like leaving at 20PSI:eek: I'm getting 10-12 now on the foot brake and car is fast enough for me. Only wanted 11.5 car and now I have it. Probablly going to add a DP to be on the safe side with the fuel.
