heres my mods so far:
walbro fuel pump with direct wire
50# injectors
k&n filter with chrome pipe
turbotweak adjustable chip 2.1
upgraded valve springs

everything else is stock, trans, engine, turbo, rear, etc..
i have ran some 8.20's 1/8 mile, previous owner ran some 7.60's with it, tuning it, race gas, driving the pee out of it etc...so i know its potential like it sits, but i want to safely have a 11 sec car when done with minimal mods. if i keep everything else the same stock and all and want to run down in the 11's...with bigger turbo and maybe add a good 3" downpipe and i will have hooker 2 1/2" exhaust on it aswell...

not so concerned with stock appearing but just want a really good street/strip turbo that is reliable, dependable and most bang for my buck...

1. Scan Tool
2. Alky kit
3. Tune Tune Tune

bluehair,if i may add to wickedt's list, a built transmission with a good converter.

why sure, i hope to have that done this winter as that is typically not a cheap project...

any suggestions on turbo to upgrade to?

I have similar goals as you and I just bought a GT6162 journal bearing. Havent got around to install it yet. This model replaced the 6152, which my buddy has and runs 11.80s on 24# and has gone 11.60 ish on 27#. Spools up fast on his car - running a 3200 stall conv. They also just came out with at billet wheeled 6262 that would work pretty good I bet.

Sounds like it already has an upgraded turbo if it went 7.6 in 1/8th. Does it have an adjustable wastegate? You may already be in the 11's, especially if you install the 3" downpipe. You might also want a Dut neck on your intercooler.

First get a ScanMaster and a good boost gauge. Maybe a datalogger as well. Those two things will help in the tuning process.

I ran a 11.98 on the stock turbo back in March. My car is basically bolt-ons only and runs good. I went a 7.58 in the 1/8th on that pass.

As for upgrades, an alchy kit would be a good start. Good downpipe and exhaust are standard upgrades. I know a guy with a full weight t-top GN running 11.35 with a TE-44 and a 2800 stall with Razor's alchy. A pretty good street combo if you ask me.

I have the same setup as you. I ran the TE60 to 12.02 with a D5, probably could have done mid 11's with a better convertor and/or a T/brake as the 12's were pretty effortless.
I switched to a PT6776S to reach the mid/low 11's effortlessly. Im sure its overkill, but I'd rather have too much than not enough, lol. I've only drove it twice with the new turbo. Feels like a big difference, but the butt dyno isn't always the most accurate, so I want to get to the track before the end of summer. This turbo is a journal bearing, so it needed a 3400 stall. I bought the Pats 10" 3400, drives great on the street. I couldn't tell there is a stall in there while driving around. I can feel it when I first take off, only because I was used to the D5. My opinion, if you want mid 11's on a stock motor with no head work, you'll need a good sized turbo to help out unless you want to squeeze everything out with tuning. I know the 6162's are more than capable, but I decided if I'm going to spend it, I went with what the masses have been praising. I love the 6776. Just my .02:biggrin:

sweet6 just went 11.5 at 119-121mph on a stock motor pump gas alky on a little gt3255 full weight.

man....all good numbers. i would love to run mid 11's and not hammering out every ounce of it, but looks like i have plenty of options...gt3255, te44, ta60? etc...i did buy a scanmaster so it should be here today or monday i hope, and i will fine tune some things first and take it to the track again to get a baseline with this stock turbo setup.
