My long time bud/car nut/hotrodder has just suffered a major tragedy..Lightning hit his near new shop, burning it to the ground.
He lost 50 yrs of tools, 2 cars, & of course, the bldg.
A stunning 62 Stude, that we were almost ready to start, tune, and take to upholstery shop.
Combined, we had 2000hrs in that build.
A really nice 60 Impy convertible.
He did get his award winning 33 roadster, and his new Honda bike out....That's it.
The Stude: 525HP, LS3, Maggie blower, magnificent 3 stage paint. All on a rust free, 60K survivor. Totally destroyed as the fire started in the roof, just above the car.
The Impy: A nice driver. 490" /409, alum heads, 4L80E trans, 9". Scorched beyond resto.
Amazingly, the shop is 20' from the back corner of the house. The house suffered no damage.

I was on Facetime as it came down... Made this old man cry.

Lightening... Reminds me when I was up north many years ago, nearly everyone had lightening arrestors on their buildings. We even had a company salesman come through Dad's hardware store once a month taking orders. You just don't see those down south and I don't know why...
