I finished putting my new dp and headers on. I start the car up let it warm up a little bit.:D I back up to leave my drive way. I put in drive I was about to make it to the end of my street when the car dies. I was like sh*&. I poped the hood looked at everything. And I was like I probably ran out of gas. So I walk home get some gas pour it in. Start the car back up. Its acting up. So I drive it slowly home. I pul into m drive way. I put it in a drive give it about 2000 rpms when it went it back fired the went boooooom. Then thats when it started to knock real bad. This is in idle. I gave a it a little gas and the knock went away. It comes back to idle and knocks like crazy what could this be?

Thanks
Allan
   :(

try to pin point a location of the knock like front of motor rear right or left side

might want to put it on jackstands and get under it running to pinpoint the location

Is it a very solid knock or just a light knock? If it's a rod knock there's no mistaking it. It's a very solid knock a lot of times accompinied by a squeeking from a spun bearing. A slight header leak can sound like a lifter tick. Pistons will knock if damaged but usually are not as solid sounding as a rod.

Just put headers on right?
Willing to bet your "knocking" sound is a exhaust leak. Probably on the passenger side.
Your car is probably running rich because of this, hence the backfire.
Must make sure that header to head is sealed tight, especially on passenger side or O2s will suffer.
Gasket might be blown, or maybe header(s) arent straight? I had to resurface my passenger side header. It was so warped that it was doing exactly what you are describing.

Good luck

As faras the source of the backfire double check the cam sensor timing. Similar to a distributor, it does have to be postioned within a certain range.

boom

worked on a tr, the guy had put plugs and wires on it, anyways when reving the motor, did the same thing your is doing. he had broken the ceramic on # 6 plug. it was arcing under a load. check your plugs and wires, maybe you bumped one! p. myers
