It's an Excelsior Henderson SuperX, they were made from 1999 to 2000 and there was roughly only 2,000 made before the company went belly up. I really liked them back in the day but I couldn't afford an $18,000 bike back then.
You can pick one up now, with ultra low miles anywhere from $6,000-$18,000. I was going to buy a 700 mile black one last year in Colorado but I took a nap at Noon and when I went to buy it at 2:00pm it was sold. I took it as devine intervention and started trying to finish the TNX instead. As usual, my motorcycle bug is kicking back in and that green one has 1,800 miles and the dealership wants $7,995 for it, which is funny because I told them last year that I would buy it for $7,500 with cash if they would go down that far and they said, "We can't go lower than $8,995 because that is what we have into it."
They have a huge factory flaw though, fixable, but if it's not corrected the tranny will lock up one day in 4th and that wouldn't be good. The tranny design is a direct copy of the Yamaha V-Max and they used a cheap bushing that causes the too much play if not corrected. The number one place that fixes them is only an hour away and the cost isn't that much, so it's not a concern of mine. I would leave it 100% stock appearing and put low miles on it anyways.
So my question is, do you guys ever see bikes like this anywhere? If so, do they draw a crowd? Has anyone owned one?
BTW, I know they are a bit ugly, but I actually like the look of them, I don't know why but I do and I think in 20 years these will be worth some money. Stock parts aren't too too rare if you know where to look, but obviously a huge problem could arise somewhere down the road, it's a gamble.
