It's an Excelsior Henderson SuperX, they were made from 1999 to 2000 and there was roughly only 2,000 made before the company went belly up. I really liked them back in the day but I couldn't afford an $18,000 bike back then.

You can pick one up now, with ultra low miles anywhere from $6,000-$18,000. I was going to buy a 700 mile black one last year in Colorado but I took a nap at Noon and when I went to buy it at 2:00pm it was sold. I took it as devine intervention and started trying to finish the TNX instead. As usual, my motorcycle bug is kicking back in and that green one has 1,800 miles and the dealership wants $7,995 for it, which is funny because I told them last year that I would buy it for $7,500 with cash if they would go down that far and they said, "We can't go lower than $8,995 because that is what we have into it."

They have a huge factory flaw though, fixable, but if it's not corrected the tranny will lock up one day in 4th and that wouldn't be good. The tranny design is a direct copy of the Yamaha V-Max and they used a cheap bushing that causes the too much play if not corrected. The number one place that fixes them is only an hour away and the cost isn't that much, so it's not a concern of mine. I would leave it 100% stock appearing and put low miles on it anyways.

So my question is, do you guys ever see bikes like this anywhere? If so, do they draw a crowd? Has anyone owned one?

BTW, I know they are a bit ugly, but I actually like the look of them, I don't know why but I do and I think in 20 years these will be worth some money. Stock parts aren't too too rare if you know where to look, but obviously a huge problem could arise somewhere down the road, it's a gamble.

Those are nice bikes & ride very well. They are very well constructed & the overall finish on the bikes is very nice. If you can find a low mileage bike at a good price snatch it up. :)

It's definitely a "dare to be different" kind of bike, that's for sure. So many people customize Harley's that they are all so meh to me now, well except for Exile's which are beyond my budget at the moment. :(

I do have a desire to build a stock appearing 79 Harley FXEF though, having a stock appearing Shovelhead would stand out, you never see stock appearing ones anymore, so one could say stock is actually custom now, lol.

Every year I fight off the motorcycle bug, and it's just wearing me down.

It looks like a cross between a Harley and a Jap bike.

Not bad looking. It would draw a crowd of puzzled people. Then you'll have to give that whole story again over and over...:D

Good price. Definetly get black!

If I get one I am going to try and locate a new set of skins and paint it red, I would also seek out an extra set of chrome parts soI could powder coat them dull silver. I hate chrome really, and that way I could customize it a little while also having all the stock parts. But honestly, I could ride it around stock and be happy too.

I would say if that's what you like, go for it...

Also, stop fighting the bug to get a bike and just do it!!

First I've ever heard of them but I'm not into slow bikes...

:p

Yeah not my style but I'd say go for it if that's what you want.

You think on the same level I do Brent. I'm not into V-twins but if I had to have one it wouldn't be a Harley and it wouldn't be Metric.I was jumping for joy when Victory hit the market. But I'm still not a fan of V-twins. I've seen lots of the E/H's out there. Last year the Suzuki/Triumph dealer I buy parts at had one and they were asking $15K for it. I like the way the springer front end is done compared to the Harley way. The only reason I would buy one is I like it when the pousers ask me what type of bike is that?
