does someone know or have the formula to calculate what MPH you should be at with:

3:42 gears
26.10 diameter tires
at 6000 rpm.

convertor unlocked

thanks for the help

,assuming in third gear (1:1) and not not overdrive 136.25 unless youve got a lot of slippage

if you are in forth on a 200r4(.67) 203.37

check your mail , i sent you a calculator to figure it out

I'm in 3rd.

Directscan & scanmaster say 105 mph.

What does that mean

Thanks

That direct scan uses a bad formula for speed and not an actual engine sensor input. :D

what about the scanmaster?

I assume that I the convertor slipping. Does that mean I have to get it tightened or restalled, I believe that the stall is pretty close to what it should be. When I break boost the tires will start to spin around 3100-3200 RPM.

If your converter is a non lockup there'll be a lot of loss due to efficiency losses. Stall speed has nothing to do with the converter's efficiency up on the big end. Many so-called high end converters are incredibly inefficient. One of the reasons I like the vigilante converters. They're on the extreme high end of efficiency (not talking locked).

Now, with all that said, if you're using a locking converter then there's a definate problem in the converter clutch

Don't use DS speed (mph) for ANYTHING!!!. It's a calculation, and a terribly inaccurate one at that.

Scanmaster uses what's being reported to the ECM by the speedo, so it's pretty close.

I'm running a precision 3200 L/U, but I have it programmed to not lock up under WOT.

So being around 6000 RPM & 105 MPH something is not right correct?

What needs to be done?

Could be a converter problem, but then again, I can't say what mine would run at 6,000 rpm. My motor has all stock internals, so there's no way it would hold up very long to that kind of punishment.
And also, with the converter that I have, I always run with it in lock "mode". that is to say, it locks and unlocks normally during cruise, etc. But at WOT I have it set to lock at 88mph.
At full "boogey" I generally run 117 in the quarter, and running through the traps I don't remember the tack every going over 5100 rpm. I've just never had the need to run the converter unlocked at WOT. Nore do I ever want to attempt to try 6grand in my motor. ;)

I have stock internals.
210 roller cam makes power to 6000.
I never had it to the track all I did was put it in 3rd & ran up to 6000 for tuning reasons, but 105 MPH sounds low for being up around 6000.

Turbo Dave, you say a convertor problem, what kind of problem maybe?

Do you have a multie disk or single disk.
Mine is a single disk

105 does sound low for 6000 rpm!! To me anyway.

Converter problem as in lost all of it's efficiencey. Some internal problem possibly. But hey, like I said, I've never been that high in rpm, so what do I know.

Could also be tranny slippage in 3rd.

My converter is a multi disc vigilante.

my tranny does flare on the 2-3 shift.
Should shift around 5500 but it flares to about 6000-6100.
The 1-2 shifts right on 5500 with no problems

Is your multi-disk clattery when idle, that is what I heard anyway.

Ocasionally, yes. But it's not bad enough to bother me. I don't mind putting up with a little mild clatter, having the piece of mind that it's pretty much bullet proof. It's got more than 6 race seasons under it's belt, and still works perfectly!!!!

locked up with 26 inch tires ( i think ) my car is at 5075rpm at 105.9mph ? dont know if this helps and i was also wondering when i should go into 4th at the track car dosnt have much of a cam postons t107. didnt mean to hijack.

thanks for the info & help.

85 TR..... got my 210 roller form Cal Hartline at an awesome price if you wanted to ever upgrade, give him a call.
