Picked up a pair of new Mickey Thompson Drag ET Street Radials 2.75x60's-I know this has been hashed out before somewhere, searched and can't seem to find it, so- what is the proper way to break them in? Then, after initial break in, how do you heat them- in the water, lots of smoke, dry, or what? Thanks for the help, guys- Joe :)

Well being that they are only "2.75MM" I would say you need to be very careful!

They are not like BFG DR's where you need to saeson them with a good burnout and they are ready to go! I do a pretty good smokey burnout with mine and they are fine.

joe, joe, joe just heat them up with a few spins thats it. at the flashlights i had 15 psi and rolled through the water real fast just to get hot and remove water 8 psi launch on unprepped road and spun about a foot and then i just held on ans watched the car get smaller in my rearview mirror:biggrin: at quaker i would just roll thought the water and spin a few times.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I can't believe how much softer the compound feels on the Mickey's compared to my old BFG's! Looks like they will wear real fast! Can't wait to try em out! Maybe, I'll finally pull some 1.60 60 footers!! ;)

1.60 can be done. these tires hook very well and they do last on the street.

1.55's can be had off the foot brake its all according to the track prep

I just helped out a local guy with his car. All stock suspension, ATR rear bar, m/t dr's...we did a 1.6x 60' off the foot brake on a 11.6 pass. This was on a not-so-well prepped track too.

No real break in or big burnout needed.
After I purchased mine I called and spoke directly with MT and they said just spin em over to clean em off and stage and go no need for a smoky burnout.
The MTDR are a softer compound than the slicks.

those mickeys are the best street tire out there IMO. i was at union grove and did a john force style burnout with them and got a 1.49 60ft, and the car was running like **** at the top end with only trapping at 112mph with a 12.4 et.

i would just spin them a bit to clean them. i knocked out a 1.7 with my BFG's on a very poorly prepped track, and a bad problem on the top end (12.6@103) i think there should be no problem with 1.6s on a MT drag radial.

Melissa ran 1.46 60' in her street beater with those .. She cleans them off pretty good pulling up to the line :p

What pressure do you guys recommend. I'm running 22# on the street and they hook xcellent. ;)

I got1.69 on my mt.275/60
I got 1.71 on my bfg 275/60
I got 1.57 on my mt ET drags. 28/10.5

Anything or about 2500 rpm would destroy either of the .DR`s

MAN trans 455cid pontiac TA

Heck my GN. can't spin the Firestone Indy`s

Time to get the power levels up...

Yeah I Agree... Might have to wait till 08 though just purchased the thing and its running nice just gotta finish the exhaust... this no muffler set-up is annoying esp when it is so slow... makes me feel kinda ricey.....all show no go.
On the tire deal my buddies GTO runs 10.7's on them with a 1.46 60 foot. They work for autos... I talked to MT about it and they said no way with a stick shift... too bad they did not tell me before I purchased them... it was oh yeah hook bettr than our regular ET streets.... I got a set and they have maybe 10 passes and never more than a 5 second 1st gear burnout... I may sell them later for GN parts.
