I am looking for a performance muffler for my 84 GN. I looked into the flowmasters, but they are rated to have a very high interior noise level. What options to I have as far as a performance muffler for this car. I want something with a nice deep tone, but not to much noise in the interior of the car. Is that possible?

Thanks!

go with ATR...their "pitbull" I have these on my '84, and they have a nice deep sound, but almost no interior noise. I noticed a big difference in spool-up, b/c they are just like glasspacks...they are straight through.

Go here http://www.atrperformance.com/

order the catolog for 6 bucks, and go from there...I hope this helps....

I have redline mufflers on my car. There straight through, sound nice and quite.

If I were you, I wouldn't be so concered about sound though. Our cars dont rumble at all so you really dont need something that will maximze sound. Just give you optimal performance.

Also, you might want to change your whole entire exhaust systemand not just the muffler. Go with either 2.5" duels or a 3" single shot. You will see a much higher power increase if you get your entire exhaust done and not just a muffler.

I myself chose the hooker 2'5" duel exhaust with the hooker supper competition mufflers and test pipe in place. It was more in my price range than the ATR system. All mandrel bent of course. 84Wh1 is right. The turbo pretty well quiets these cars down enough to the point where getting mufflers for sound dampening is not worth it. Might as well get something that will make your car perform well. Just a little insight!

I went with a "special order" flowmaster, cut in half and everything inside removed, then re-welded. Seems to be the only way to rumble would be with a pair of resonators, no mufflers, and some chrome boom tubes. I've got 3"x16" tips on mine, and it's definately more rumblicious than stock.

dynomax race magnums approx $36 per muffler straight through..

Or this one works nice:

ATR 2.5" downpipe - $130
Nothing else after it - free

Good for power, too :D

I haven't heard the differences between many TR exhaust systems, but I like the sound of ATR Pitbull single 3" system.

Just my opinion.
