So, I have THIS CAR for sale on a classified site. I get this call from a man who wants to ask about it. After a couple of questions, he says, "I see you also have it on eBay". I say, "no, what makes you say that"? He says, "I just saw it yesterday and it is definitely your car because the pictures are identical to the ones in your ad. Your ad price is $27900 and the eBay listing shows a Buy-it-now at $8000". By the time I checked, the listing was gone. Now I'm curious and go through listings in the same category. Sure enough, I find another NICE car with the same Buy-it-now price, so I "e-mail the seller" with a question about payment details, etc. This dummy answers (from The Netherlands) with a request for a $2500 deposit. He doesn't exactly have a command of the English language, but goes on to give me his name/address, instructions to send by Western Union and that he is a manager with FedEx and can get the car to me (free) "in 6 days or less". :)
Little does he know how much networking can be done thru various forums...I have a "Buick buddy" only 35 miles away from him. We'll see how this all plays out. My only concern is that some poor soul(s) may have sent him some of their hard-earned money.

Something similar happened to me through racing junk.com. The guy emailed me and said he would send over a money order for my asking price plus shipping. Weeks go by, nothing. A few more weeks nothing. Then I get a money order in the mail for $17,000. Too bad it was fake and its a huge hoax on the internet. Good thing I found out or I would have shipped the car to him with a fake money order and never would have seen the car again. Be VERY wary of internet deals....there are alot of scammers out there looking to take good people for their hard earned money. If anyone cares i still have th emoney order and I Can find out what bank it was drawn from. I hear this happens all the time....so keeps your eyes open and be safe when doing deals like that!!!!

Yeah, kevins...this was done and I included all pertinent info as well as his e-mail response including header details, etc.

Thanks

as always,
In GOD We Trust, all others must pay cash!!!

Just a suggestion for the future, tag your pics so they cant be used by someone else to put up on e-bay or other places.

Thanks tta...point well taken, but also remember... lots of folks are wizards when it comes to "enhancing" images. I do a significant amount of graphic work and some of it would surprise you.
