So, I have THIS CAR for sale on a classified site. I get this call from a man who wants to ask about it. After a couple of questions, he says, "I see you also have it on eBay". I say, "no, what makes you say that"? He says, "I just saw it yesterday and it is definitely your car because the pictures are identical to the ones in your ad. Your ad price is $27900 and the eBay listing shows a Buy-it-now at $8000". By the time I checked, the listing was gone. Now I'm curious and go through listings in the same category. Sure enough, I find another NICE car with the same Buy-it-now price, so I "e-mail the seller" with a question about payment details, etc. This dummy answers (from The Netherlands) with a request for a $2500 deposit. He doesn't exactly have a command of the English language, but goes on to give me his name/address, instructions to send by Western Union and that he is a manager with FedEx and can get the car to me (free) "in 6 days or less".
Little does he know how much networking can be done thru various forums...I have a "Buick buddy" only 35 miles away from him. We'll see how this all plays out. My only concern is that some poor soul(s) may have sent him some of their hard-earned money.
